Pack N' Play Rant

Ok.  So I received the Graco Pack N' Play that I registered for at my shower.  It was the version with the newborn napper and changing station.  My one big issue with this is that the napper and changing station don't pack up!  Only the actual PNP rolls up and goes in the little bag.  After that, you have all these metal rods and pads and other things lying around.  It actually takes up more room.  Doesn't that seem a little strange to you?  I'm not going to use it as a bassinet, just when I'm visiting my parents that live a few hours away. It seems like that extra stuff is useless and I can envision it sitting in my garage collecting dust.  Ok, rant over.  Thanks for listening.

    Mine fits in the bag, but it's tight I let my husband handle that task.

    Yeah - that stuff doesn't fit in my bag, either.  But I didn't really need it to.  I kept the PNP with the bassinet and changing station in my living room for the first few months and that's where DS napped and I changed him downstairs.  He got too big for the bassinet pretty quickly, and then he started napping in his crib, so by 6 months old I packed it up and put it away.  Now we only use it for vacations (we never went away overnight in the first 6 months) and I don't need to take the extra stuff with me.

    i wound up returning mine and getting a simple one that allows the matress to be up highter when the babies are small, otherwise there was no way i was packing all those other pieces up!

    This is what we have too, and the extra rods/material easily fits into the carrying bag.  And without the extras, the PNP I have is quite a bit less expensive!

    Yup.  Only the PnP and mat fit in the bag.  The rest of that crap is just extra.

    We have the graco deco and the basinette and change table don't fit. i agree -it's annoying.
