DH & I are planning on doing it. Since we live near Disneyland, we want to do the Coast to Coast series in 2011.
I've been running for a while, so I don't use a training plan for 1/2s. We try to stay in good enough shape (running a few times a week, strength train 2-3 times a week, one long run day, Xtraining mixed in) to do 1/2 marathons on the fly.
Live near Dland too,, but not doing that half in Feb,, doing the Huntington Beach FULL marathon on the 6th of Feb.. that's going to be fun and interesting,, I'll be 8mnths preggo! I will walk if I can't run.. and will have my water, etc.
Next half is in Oct and then 2 tris,, so needing to get motivated for back to running!
Thanks for the link! DH is doing it with me too and we are also planning to do the half at Disneyland next year.
What kind of cross training do you do? I know I need to do more strength training but I really hate it.
I can't wait to be able to say I do 1/2's on the fly
It took me a while to learn to love strength training, but it's completely necessary.
I have a tri in about 3 weeks. So my main Xtraining is biking and swimming. I also like adding yoga and pilates, so I'm loose when I run. In the past I've also done things like modern dance, ballet, kayaking, and rock climbing.
PP- Surf City is a great race, as long as it doesn't rain.
That one looks fun! I am not doing that one but I am doing the San Diego half (Carlsbad half now I guess...) and I have looked at Hal Higdons website as a loose guide. I know a lot of people that have a lot of success with it! GL!
I have done 10 halfs and I use this everytime because it's personalized! My son is one month old and I am itching to run again. Because of bleeding I had to stop running the first week of my 2nd trimester. Good luck to you!!!!!
