Am *finally* reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro (it's always checked out at the library, is never at the used book store, and I am too cheap to buy books new). I finally did buy it on half.com, when I saw they were coming out with the movie; wanted to read it before the movie is released and Keira Knightly ruins it for me.
I am about 3/4 done and absolutely love it. I really think it's Ishiguro's best that I've read so far.
For hilarity, can't-put-it-down, I recommend A Staggering Work of Heartbreaking Genius by David Eggers or Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz.
Re: good books?
I just finished On Folly Beach by Karen White. It took me awhile to get into, but it was good once I was able to get into it.
I also liked jennifer Weiner, best friends's Forever. Not to keen on the ending of her new one.
Half the Sky
There is No Me without You
The Boy in Baby House 10
The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid (anything by Bill Bryson really)
1000 White Women, the Journals of May Todd
Loved this one!
HATED Eat Pray Love, I have tried to read it at least 3 times now and can not make it through.
