2nd Trimester

Thinking of having a shirt made...

that says:

No, I'm NOT due very soon...Yes there is only 1 baby in there and I'm sure...and no we do not know what it is!

Sorry, but the comments from people lately are getting ridiculous and I'm only 6 months. WTH are they going to say when I'm really nearing the end???

Oh, and the 'WOW, you're getting bigger' comments need to stop, of course I am, I am growing a human being...what am I supposed to get smaller? I just don't get people! I'm 4'11" tall, of course my belly looks huge, where else is it supposed to go?

Anyone else dealing with all these rude comments? I swear this started much later with DS than it has this time around.

Re: Thinking of having a shirt made...

  • I need one of those shirts!  I get the same comments all the time.  Everyone thinks that I'm having twins or about to give birth any day.  And I'm only 5 months!

And no I don't want your Opinion or Advice

  • I don't see those comments as rude. Yes, you are getting bigger. We all are.  I tend to let those things slide off; I don't think people are trying to ruin your day, I think they are genuinely curious and don't know what else to say.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • People asked me that from just about the day I found out I was pregnant with my daughter because I blew up really fast.  This one lady at my job was "Girl, you need to have them check again.  There's no way there's only 1 in there"

Eh. I see both sides. I would take them as intrusive. You don't go around telling people who have gained weight, "Wow, you must really be downing the carbs lately huh?!" do you? Why is it okay to comment on a pregnant woman's weight? It's invasive.

No one has said much to me but I don't like it when people ask me how much I've gained. Everyone has an opinion on whether it's enough or not. My OB is happy, that's all that matters.

  • I haven't had alot of comments about my size so far. Mine are mostly annoying co-irkers making comments about my food choices and things like that. I hate that everything seems to be fair game for discussion when you're pregnant.

  • I hate it!! The other day a man at my church said wow your getting a pretty big belly there..so I looked at him and smiled looked at his gut over his dress pants with his shirt all tucked in around it and said.."wow you too!" "I have an extra maternity top in the car if you wanna borrow it to fit your belly" lol he shut up call me rude but the comments arent called for I am pregnant Not Over weight and not a side show..cause if I was a side show I would get a tin can for people to leave tips as they stare

  • Meh, doesn't bother me. People are just trying to show they're interested and don't really know how to say things correctly. Just chill out and try not to let it bother you.

  • see, having been through this before, it doesn't upset me as much as it annoys me (which are totally different). You wouldn't tell someone that is over weight how big they are and you wouldn't make comments on what they eat either. You also wouldn't say 'I wonder if it's a girl, you still look the same but we'll see'...that's just like saying 'I'm waiting to see if you get ugly or not'. What is wrong with people, why do they see a pregnant girl and forget whatever filter they may have had?

See it bothers me when someone asks if I am having twins.  Especially when they follow up by saying, well at least you know they baby will be healthy.  I am still trying to find a polite way to say F@#$% Off!!

I think it's all in how people say it. I've had people say wow you're really popping out there! Not offended. But then again, I've had people say WOW you're HUGE. Are you sure your dates are right? I say yes, and they still continue to hem an haw. Are you sure it isn't twins? etc. That is when it gets annoying and rude.

DITTO! WELL PUT. Ladies on this board seem to be offended by everything, when people generally mean well.

  • mine would say, "Yes, I'm 6 months pregnant. Yes, I know I'm not showing very much.  No, We don't want to know boy or girl. And NO, YOU'RE NOT GONNA CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT IT."

people seem to just feel that you being pregnant in public affords them the opportunity to turn off their filters and say rude and stupid things.

when I get tired of responding I send a subtle hint like, "Oh really? And how would you let nature take it's course in your body while you stood by watching?"

    kayyyyy, not-so-subtle.
