Scheduled Mayan Massage!

I always thought this sounded like a load of cr*p (no offense to anyone who's done it), but my acu recommended it.

No one's ever been able to figure out why I spot so much before AF - my progesterone isn't low and I don't have any polyps per hysteroscopy and saline u/s. I had an AF w/ no spotting last month right after my lap, so I thought the endo could have caused it and with that cleaned out it'd stop, but here it is back a month later. I'm hoping the spotting isn't from endo growing back in 1 month, and wondering if maybe it was gone last month due to the full-system flush the surgeon does to disinfect you post-lap. I had lots of bleeding/discharge after the lap, and then AF just 3 days later.

My acu thinks the spotting might be due to some kind of "obstruction" causing blood to pool and not be released completely, so I'm going for Mayan massage to see if I need to have my ute repositioned.

It's pricey! $250 for a full initial consult - I'm doing an abbreviated one and it's still $150.

Anyone else tried this?

I tried it recently and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if it did anything but I found it to be very relaxing and calming. It also helped me feel more connected to my body, and gave me more of an awareness of what my organs are up to! I hope you enjoy it!

I have - loved it! Of course - it also wasn't as expensive as your appears to be.

Be prepared for some close touching near your pubic bone. A good therapist should prepare and talk to you and make you feel comfortable. You will get the most benefit out of it if you continue with the self-care they recommend.

I haven't tried it, but am very curious! I also spot before AF and my acu thinks it is also due to 'blood stasis'.

Mine said something similar. They chalk a lot of spotting poor blood flow/inability for your body to dispell the blood as it should.

I have done it twice and LOVED it -- I think it really helped too. She said my uterus was pointing down and to the right, which would explain why I spot before AF, and I have to tell you, after just 2 visits, once a month, I stopped spotting. it was crazy! and she told me she felt an adhesion on the side of my uterus and had me put castor oil and hot water bottle on it....it's so crazy what we go through.

anyway, where are you going? i wonder if it's the same woman. I hope you enjoy it -- it definitely is, um, a little intimate. so you have to go with an open mind and no embarrassment.

I'm going through YinOva...her name is Nichole Kruck...she's in Union Square. I hope to go 2x before my next IVF. Do you think it would aid in getting you KU at all?

That's who I went to! She's amazing. So nice and great at talking you through it. I was dubious, but to be totally TMI, my period has been really bright red and no spotting before. I've been to accupuncture for well over a year, so I totally attribute it to Nicole. Good luck! I hope you enjoy.

I did it and while it didn't help me get pregnant or cure spotting issues (I don't spot, just have low progesterone and a short LP), I do think it helped. I had a lot less endo pain when I was doing it. It was also the most hopeful I ever felt through 1.5 years of IF treatments, so it was worth it for that alone. I did the castor oil packs to increase blood flow and I used that during my FET in the hopes it would kick start my sluggish lining. It was in combo with a boost in estrogen, so hard to tell which did the trick.

Oh, and she taught me the self care the first time, so I started doing it on my own. I still went back for later visits about once a month (cheaper than the consult), but it was nice to have the self care in between.

Yes! I have been going and I love it. It is very intimate so be prepared for that. My masseuse also asks pretty personal questions about your cycle and flow but I think it's been helping. I have also been doing the self care and castor oil packs. I hope it will help in getting pg this fall!!! Good luck at your appointment, I hope it helps you.
