My LO will only sit for maybe one or two pages, max, and then pushes the book away. I mean super-simple board books, so there aren't many words on the pages. I love books and he has an entire bookshelf stuffed full, so I can't wait until he's ready to snuggle in and read with me. When did your LO start sitting still, or at least sitting for half a book?
Re: When did your LO start sitting still-ish for books?
Since...birth?
Seriously, DS has always loved books.
It was around 13-14 months. DS loved to hear stories before than, but was always busy doing somethine else while listening instead of sitting for a book. Now? He brings books to us and climbs up in our laps. I love it, except some of the books are getting really redundant....
Soon after his first birthday. Now after bath he will go straight to his bookshelf, grab a book, and follow me into the living room so I will read it to him. After I read one, he will get up, go into his room, grab another one and bring it back. Sooo cute!!
It helps for me to point out animals/shapes on each page after I read it. Like, "see the pretty blue bird?" and he'll point to the bird on the page.
This. DS only wanted to read to himself for the longest time. So I let him look at books and read aloud to him. I still read whatever book I'm personally reading out loud at different parts of the day. Around his 1st birthday was when he really became interested with us reading though DC said he was the best kid during circle time since 10 months. Now he can sit through 5-10 books at a time and still be very engaged.
DD started really getting into books around 16 months but before that she was not interested.
