We're just over 20 weeks- know the gender- I know what I want in the nursery. This is baby #2 so we're using the same crib & glider which I already have. I need a dresser/changing table but will get that soon. When did you start the nursery? finish it? We're due the last week of the year - I don't want to be doing this over the holidays so the goal is to get this done before Thanksgiving. Am I crazy to start now?
Re: When did you start your nursery?
For DD we started around Thanksgiving (so 28 weeks I think?) by painting the room. But it was a slow process and wasn't finished until February (she was due in March).
I guess you can say we are starting today. The crib we wanted was in stock so they are delivering that and the dresser combo today. We emptied out the room this past weekend and we are in the process of picking out a paint color. I picked one out of Saturday and we bought a sample...I ended up not liking it though so it's back to the drawing board on that. Ideally we would like to have the room finished by the end of September. The baby shower is in October so we will be bringing home all the other stuff then. My husbands work is busiest from mid October to January so it works for us to get it done prior to that time.
I did my nursery really early with DS1 and it was a huge mistake. After it was done all I could do was sit in it and wait for the baby to get there. It was torture!
With this one I'm holding out as long as possible!
Our nursery was a bit of a process. I had to clean out the room, which was my office/scrapbook room.
So I started around 15 weeks clearing everything out. Around 21 weeks I patched any holes from photos or shelving and took down the wall boarder. I followed that with some sanding. My mom and I also did some art for the walls.
Week 23 we moved the furniture out and painted, put up beadboard and chair rail.
Week 24 the carpet will go in.
We already have dresser, one will be the changing table. I just need a bookcase, toy box, rocker and the crib.
I wanted to get as much done now as I could. I have a very busy fall, and this way after the shower I will have a place to store the baby items, and will be able to begin to put things in their place.
