Baby Derek arrived 8/9/10!

Sunday night 8/8/10 I could not get comfy and was waking up about every hour with some painful contractions, but didn't think anything of it since it has been like that for a few weeks. Hoped to myself that it meant baby would come sometime during the week.

Around 6:45 am I checked my timer app on the phone and I had been having them about 10 min apart for 1 hour.

was awake because I had been tossing & turning, we both agreed I would shower 1st and start to get ready. Shower felt great! DH showered & got ready. I got ready and put the fnal stuff in my bag, DH grabbed us some breakfast, I ate, got DS up, called my mom. By that time they were 3-5 min apart. Made DS breakfast to eat @ MIL's & packed his bag. Everyone got in the car.

While driving they progressed to 2-3 min apart and OMG they were painful, I was crying. We got to the hospital and they were 1-2 min apart. I couldn't walk through them. I was so glad I did the pre-registration & so was the admitting lady. My mom was there waiting & DH took DS to MIL's super fast.

Went straight to L&D got hooked up, it was 9:30 at this time and I was 4-5 cm 100%. The pain was so intense I needed my epidural right away because all I was doing was curling up into a ball. Got the epidural, but could still feel them. They checked me again @ 10:15 and I was 7-8.

That is where the L&D nurses kind of dropped the ball. I didn't have the pressure in my butt, like I needed to have a BM, but I had intense pressure inside, like coming from the cervix. I told the nurses and they didn't seemed concerned and I wasn't checked again, they simply kept asking me if I had to have a BM. I told my mom & DH next time I will lie and say I do feel like having a BM, but that my Dr is probably going to come around 12:30, that is when the office closes for lunch, (his office is across the street from the hospital).

I was right & very happy to be right. He checked me and right as he put his hand in... POP! My water broke, he said "I didn't mean to do that", he was kind of annoyed @ the nurses, he said the catheter they put in was too big and was blocking the baby and that I was fully dilated, 100%, & at +1. The nurse asked "you want to deliver her now?" he said Yes. Nurse asked again "we are going to deliver her now?" He said "Yes & take out the catheter now"

I was excited, but I couldn't feel a thing except for the pressure @ my cervix. Dr. changed & came back. (remember Dr showed @ 12:30) I started pushing maybe around 12:45, baby was having some Decelerations, he suspected due to the cord being wrapped around baby's neck, he told me to push as hard as I can, we need to get the baby out fast. I pushed as hard as I could every time they told me I was contracting, and Baby was born 1:04 PM, so I pushed for like 20 min. He did have his cord wrapped around his neck, but he started crying as soon as they put him on me. I was so relieved.

I couldn't believe my labor went so fast this time and that I only pushed for about 20 min.

Baby is nursing like a champ. My milk came in 2 days later. It felt so good to come home and take a shower in my own shower. Baby is adjusting well & so is DS.
