Pregnant after IF

~Niki~

Hey lady!  I was wondering how you find sizing for your new jeans to run, Gap is starting 30% off on 8/26 and I'm wondering if I can go by my old size or if I need to head to the store to try jeans on.  Thanks!

How are you doing? Thinking of you and those little ones.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my gap maternity jeans. They're my favorite out of about 6 brands I've tried on.

IMO they run exactly true to size. I got them 1 size up though, because i found (like all jeans) they're a bit tighter out of the dryer, and I wanted to avoid that.  They're a bit baggy on me because of it, but I don't mind. I still love them.

I got the demi waist on the ones I bought at 9 weeks, but I'm going back this week with my 30% and my groupon and i'm going to try on the full belly panel too.

  • Hey Monty! I am normally a size 26 or 27 in jeans depending on the brand and I was a 26/2 in GapMaternity. If you wear 7FAMK I was a 26 in those and a 27 in Paige Denim, and a 0 regular in Ann Taylor Loft - so all over the map.

I ended up getting the Demi Panel Long and Lean Jeans in Flare Leg and the same jeans in Bootcut.

I tried on the full panel jeans but found that they ran smaller all over and weren't as flattering, something about where the panel cut into the jean, it was very low on the pelvis/hips and it made the butt and thighs of the jeans look a little frumpy. Normally I prefer the full panel just for security, but I'm loving the demi in these.

In the size 26 the demi panel was a little snug, but when I put on the 27 the jeans themselves bagged out too much in the heiney and the waist was loose. I did a lot of pulling/tugging on the demi panel and it's got a lot of stretch room so I thought oh well now the jeans will just stay up and it's not uncomfortable by ANY means. In the end I'm glad I stuck with the 26 because the cotton on the jeans stretches out throughout the day so they were still really flattering even at day's end yesterday and the panel wasn't an issue. I will definitely be able to wear them into November. Once I hit December/32 weeks + I may need to size up though, although who knows how many trips I'll be making outdoors by then LOL.

I'm also happy about the demi panel because it means I'll have jeans that can be used PP and not have to worry about how long it takes my ute to shrink back down. I think wearing a full panel jean PP would have bruised my ego :)

Online they show them as 0-10 sizing in the store they show both the numbered sizing and the waist inches sizing. So a size 26 read as a 26/2 and a size 27 was a 27/4.

I also got them in the short length (so 26/2a). I'm 5'3" and the inseam was perfect for either flats, flipflops or a medium wedge heel.

The only thing I'm nervous about is washing them and having the length shrink. I may only wash them and then line dry them to make sure I don't end up with highwaters (which would break my heart!) I think b/c they are 2% spandex it should be okay??? But it's not worth the risk. I just didn't want to deal with having to buy the "r" jeans and then hemming them.

    HTH!

  • Niki - FWIW - i've washed and dried mine several times and have had no length shrinkage issues (and I'm only 5'4").
