I just got a Facebook Event invite from a girl that I go to church with to her Baby Sprinkle....She had a large shower when she had her first son less than three years ago. She is having it before she even has the baby and hosting it herself. I just do not understand why people think that this is appropriate.

Re: Tacky
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!

It is so tacky that it moves past tacky into a whole new category of money grubbing. So annoying.
My first thought was "Is that supposed to be slang for a Christening?!?"
I have never ever ever heard of a baby sprinkle.
I think that's just another example of people hoping that if something's "cute" enough people won't notice how shamelessly tacky it is. And "cute" is in quotations because it makes me want to
blow chunks.
Exactly! Throwing it for herself is just ridiculous.

Ugh.
People really astound me. I have a friend who really wants to throw me a shower and I keep trying to figure out how to say "Dude, NO." I have 2 kids. I've had my showers.
I finally suggested we have dinner. I'm uncomfortable enough with the thought of them buying me dinner - let alone gifts.
That anyone would hold a party for themselves is the ultimate in ICK.
