Those who weaned from BF

What do you do if they do not like cows milk? Today is day one of substituting and Will is eyeing the sippy cup like it is poison. He takes BM from the sippy cup no problem. He scowled at the first sip and refuses to drink from it. My plan was to drop a feeding every week or so, do I scratch the plan and just BF him like I typically would while I come up with a plan B? What did you do?

We're struggling with weaning. DD will not take more than 2 oz of whole milk at a time. I've tried giving it in a couple different types of sippys, a straw cup, regular cup with a real straw and just a regular cup. I've also tried mixing it with bm and still she won't drink it. It's getting frustrating.

My plan B (or C?) is to try heating up the cows milk since she's used to warm bm. If I can get her to drink it that way, then I'll gradually decrease how long I heat it for until it's no longer neccesary to heat it.

Em will be 18 months on Thursday and we have been trying cows milk since she was 12 months old. I am really ready to wean but she will NOT take milk. She won't even drink my milk from a sippy. Sigh, we'll be nursing until she is 25 years old

At least she only nurses (usually) morning and night time. The rest of the time it is all water and only water and nothing but water for this kid!

I weaned 1.5 months ago. Ds still will not drink cows milk, I tried everything, chocolate, mixing it with juice, etc. We just make sure he gets his calcium from other dairy products like yogurt every day. I still offer milk every once in awhile to see if he will drink it, but no success yet.

We had the same problem. The only thing that worked for us was to mix it with vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast powder & warm it up. Then it's sweet and warm like bm. Plus, it's got loads of extra vitamins & minerals. Pedi said it was great to do.

I started giving her milk with meals before I weaned her. I wanted to make sure she would drink it. It took about a week and I felt confident that she would be okay with cow milk and I weaned her from her 9:30 and 2:30 feedings. I still nurse at night and then give her milk all day.

My son didn't like cow's milk either and I could only get him to take a few sips now and than. He's only been weaned for 2 days/2 nights so far, but I find that he's now actually drinking the milk! I bought a new sippy cup so it would seem more exciting for him; it's has cars on the outside and he can't see what's on the inside (i.e. it's not a clear cup). It seems to be working. I'm amazed.
