Awkward/surreal phase

I feel like I need to know if anyone else feels like this right now:

So, now that I'm in 2nd tri and all my 1st tri symptoms have gone away, I definitely don't feel pregnant anymore. Along with that, I don't really have a bump and I can't feel the baby move. I know this is perfectly normal, so I'm not "freaked out", but it's definitely making it really hard to feel pregnant.

Is anyone else going through this? It just doesn't feel real right now. I literally need my doctor's appointments to reassure me there is something in there.

  • Yes, I feel the same exact way. I just feel a little chubby like I need to go to the gym, but that's really about it. I cant wait for a bump!

  • I agree! Just this morning I woke up and thought "I don't feel pregnant at all!" I still have some symptoms (headaches, vomiting) but for the most part I don't have the constant reminder anymore.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. I have no reason to believe there is anything wrong with this pregnancy, but it's a big relief every time I go to the doctor and get to hear baby's heartbeat! I am so ready for a bump, and to feel movement.

  • I feel the same way.  I'll be 16 weeks on Wed, but don't feel it at all.  I've gained like 3 lbs since my last appoint I think... but now I feel like I'm just bored and eating too much..

  • Going through the same thing myself.  Really I have been from day one.....my first trimester was pretty uneventful.

  • This pretty much sums up my week. I feel exactly the same way! I'm finally telling people I'm pregnant, but most people's first reactions are, "But you don't LOOK pregnant!" They clearly can't see the all the weight I've gained or the belly band holding up all my pants . . . Seriously pray every night, "Grow baby, grow!"
  • That's exactly how I was feeling but for the past 2 days I've been feeling the baby move, and it's making it feel real again! You'll be at this point soon and it's awesome!

  • Hi ksy - I think I went through that a couple weeks ago, when the bloat was lessening but the bump hadn't really started. Let me tell you that I have really started to pop in this past week. Every day my husband and I are staring at my belly and saying really perceptive things to each other like, "Uh, doesn't it look bigger to you?" "Yeah, like bigger than yesterday?" "Um, you're massive!"

So I wonder, since you are a couple weeks behind me, if you will soon "feel pregnant" once again. :)

  • Absolutely feel the same.  Even with some of the MS and headaches, it just feels like stuff I would normally be going through (I get headaches often, so that's not very new).  And since about half my friends don't have kids, I'm trying to not be that person who only talks about the pregnancy all the time, so it falls to the background a lot.  But I figure eventually I'll be so big and uncomfortable, I'll be wishing I was back in the easy days, so I'm trying to enjoy it.

  • I finally have the bump and I love it but it does feel kind of strange with a lot of my 1st trimester symptoms gone.

Plus, I had been seeing my doctor every two weeks to ensure I was gaining enough weight (I'm underweight normally) so I got to hear the heartbeat all the time and now I have to wait until September to hear it again!

Soon enough I'll feel movement though, I can't wait.

  • I feel the exact same way.  Ive definitely got a little bump going on but nothing else.  I had my 14w appt today and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time and loved it!  But before today, I wasnt really "feeling it" either.
