how would you feel about this?

me and DH have decided to keep the names we pick a secret until baby is here. we even picked the ones we liked and settled before we even told about the pregnancy. We are crazy in love with our names.

well... my nosey self was browsing on FB yesterday and found out that my ex and his gf just had a little boy and named him the name we had picked out! now let me clarify.. his sister is my friend on FB and i saw it from her page, so no i wasnt looking at his page... and we didnt date very long.. maybe 4-5 months but DH also knows him because they play softball against each other. i told Dh and at first he was kinda upset but then he said "oh well i dont care what he named his kid"

should i care? or am i just being stupid for even putting the effort into thinking about it?

    Although I think I would feel the same way and be upset at first, I think you'll forget all about it soon.  You said you love the names you picked out so you should keep them.

    Unless you have a lot of mutual friends, I wouldn't worry about it.  But I know how you feel-- I am very possessive of "our" names, and it totally sucks to see others use them.

    LOL. TG, I wouldn't worry about it. If you both love the name, then it shouldn't matter whether others are choosing it too.

    My ex that I was with for 3 years named his little boy my favorite name.  This has been my favorite boy name for about a year now and I just found out he used about a month ago.  If I could only get my DH to love the name as much as I do I would still use it, but in fact he hates it.  The ex now lives in a different state anyway so even less of an issue.

    I'd be upset at first I think thats but in the end who cares. Not like your child will be the only one ever with that name and its not a relative or someone who even matters in your life.

    I would not stress it.  your child will NOT be the only one with that specific name so who cares if it's the neighbor down the street or an ex who uses it.

    I would be annoyed, but I would keep that name. If for some reason they grow up and become friends, plenty of friends share names.

    I would definitely be bugged about it at first, but I'd still use the name. They won't be the only 2 boys with that name.  If you love the name, go with it!
