TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Had my Follow-up OB Appointment today

I had my 2 week follow-up after D&C/ 4 weeks postpartum appointment today. My regular OB is on vacation, so I had the doctor who fills in for her. She is nice, but I do prefer my reg. OB. It was first time back since I bled all over their office, so everyone was checking in on me and joking about how I better not make a mess Tongue Tied.
None of my pathology on the placenta or the autopsy reports are back yet (no suprise) so she has suggested waiting to try again until at least that information has been received, and I have had at least one full cycle. I am all clear for sex again, with protection as my bleeding appears to have nearly stopped (just the teeniest amount of light spotting now..yay! I am so sick of pads!!) but I will wait till it stops completely.
She does not suggest I see an RE at this time, due to the fact that my losses are of two different types (missed m/c, then stillbirth). She has ordered a thrombophila screening for blood clotting disorders to be done in two weeks (when I am 6 weeks postpartum) as I did have spotting issues, and I go back to meet with my reg. OB on Sept. 22nd. when all reports and blood work should be back. I look forward to seeing her and asking her my shopping list of questions, to see if she has a different opinion.

Thanks for reading all that lol :)

  • I'm sorry you had to deal with people making jokes about a mess in the office.  That is so uncalled for and insensitive.

I think the RE idea is a good one.  It can't hurt to see if they have any insight.  I hope your next appointment with your OB leads to some answers and that if you see the RE you get a good plan nailed down.

GL and hugs for what must have been a hard appointment.

  • People never cease to shock me with their callousness.

I think the clotting panel is a good idea.  Sounds like you're in good hands, and I'm so glad things are getting back to normal, physically speaking.

Thanks, it was just a couple of the assistants. It was not my reg. OB I saw, or I think it would not have happened. At first I laughed along with them, but then when they left I felt wierd about it.

And FWIW, I did make a huge mess, I have never seen that much blood, and they covered half of it with sheets. I know it wasn't my fault, but it really must have sucked for whoever had to clean it up Ick!

  • Hope you get your results back soon. Glad they are running  some blood work. I can't believe they were joking in the office, that would have upset me.
