TTC after baby #1 -- how long did it take you?

My DD is 14 months old. I didn't start having a ppp until she was 11 months and we've been TTC since she was 12 months. We got pregnant on our first try with her, so I'm wondering if this is "normal" to take longer for baby #2. So, if you are (or have been) pregnant for a second time, how long did it take you?

TIA

  • Had TTTC DD.

I was on bc and found out I was pregnant 4 months after she was born.

  • Got pregnant on the 2nd cycle of trying with ds. 4th cycle this time.
  • It took 1 cycle this time. With DD I wasn't charting or anything and it took 9 months. Since having DD I can tell when I am ovulating so I just made sure to get really busy around 10 days after AF started and kept that up for about a week. It really hasn't been that long for you guys to be trying, but I know its a little frustrating..are you periods regular since they came back after having your baby?

My first PPP to my 2nd PPP was extra long, but my last 3 periods have been 30-32 days apart. Pretty much exactly how they were pre-baby #1. I don't chart either. With DD, we were just busy from the time my period stopped until it was "suppose" to start again. I guess I should just do the same for TTC now. Thanks for letting me know about you. It is frustrating especially since it seemed so easy the first time.

  • I got pregnant first time with our first pregnancy, however lost it.  Then took 2 cycles for DS to be conceived.  And now I'm on cycle #3--and it's not looking good--so thinking it'll be at least another cycle or two.  ugh.

  • I was in the exact same position--no AF until 11 months pp, started trying right away. We ended up not getting pregnant for 6 cycles, then had a m/c, then got pregnant first cycle trying after m/c. My periods were very normal once they came back PP. It only took one cycle to get pregnant with DD.
  • We literally decided on a date night to stop using contraception and 2 weeks later I was staring at a positive pregnancy test.  DS was 14 months and I had had 4 pp periods.

DS #1 was conceived first month TTC as well.  With the exception of my m/c, we've had a really easy time TTC.

Well you were really lucky the first time thats for sure! But yeah I would do the same thing you did for baby #1 then, or you could even use OPKs because since your cycles are 30-32 days you may be ovulating later than you think since most women's cycles are 28 days. I sometimes have longer cycles which is why I made sure to put DH on a humping schedule for a full week, just in case I ovulated later then I thought. GL!

  • I got pregnant on cycle 1 with LO 1 (DD) and cycle 2 with LO 2 (DS).

I got AF at 3 months pp and started TTC when DD was 8 months.  I charted and wasn't ovulating and she ended up dropping her night feeding (BFing) that month and I ovulated on the next cycle and got pg with DS.

  • We got pregnant with DS #1 on the first cycle and just started TTC #2...BFN yesterday although I may have ovulated later than I thought so I will test again in a week.  I certainly "feel" pregnant but my hopes are not up too much.

  • 1st cycle both times.

But I got my first ppp when dd was 12 months old then we started ttc when she was about 15 months old, that's when my cycles were back to pre-pregnancy normal.

  • First cycle both times. But I also got my first PPP at 8wks pp and have been regular ever since.

  • First cycle with both DS and DD, we literally only had sex three days each time.

  • We've been very lucky...it took 2 cycles with DD and 1 cycle this time.

  • We weren't trying and got pregnant after just one time. I only had 2 ppp and was really late on my 3rd one. I was beyond shocked since we only did it once and used the "withdrawal" method. Needless to say, that did not work. My dr. told me I would be super fertile after I was done bf, but I didn't listen.

  • Accident baby #1 - ended in m/c

    DS1 - first try

    DS2 - about 6 months

trying now for baby #3 and it's been almost 1 year of trying and nada - I think my eggs are getting too old.  I actually can't believe that I am going to have to talk about infertility at my next ob appointment.  It is pretty depressing.

  • DD1 took 3 months. I then got pregnant when she was 23 months old (after trying for 2 months) but had a mc. One month later I got pregnant with DD2.

With DD1 I was charting. With my 2nd pregnancy and with DD2 I used ovulation detectors. Will definitely be using them again if we decide to try for #3.
