So, my DH had a pretty nasty stomach virus last week - it started Tuesday night and he still didn't feel 100% as of Friday night, but then this weekend he was fine. I am pretty sure he passed it on to me - it seemed to hit me Thursday....but today I still feel AWFUL. I spent all weekend resting, getting my fluids, etc.
Here's my question: Do things like this linger a lot longer b/c you're pregnant? One of my friends made a comment that when you're pregnant, your body takes longer to fight things off. I'm just wondering what you guys thought.
Re: Stomach virus...what do you think?
I have definitely found this to be true and I heard it from both my OB, midwife and primary care doctors last time with DS. I had a terrible cough that turned into an upper respiratory infection while pg with him and they all said that it'll take me longer to get better because your body focuses on getting all nutrients to the baby rather than to you! Sorry you're so sick
Have you mentioned it to your dr? I probably would and ask them to check up on you a bit.
A possibility was born the day you were born and will live as long as you live.
I know your immune system is weakened when you're sick, but not sure about length of sickness. It would make sense it would take longer to get over an illness, but not sure.
I had a one-day flu while pregnant...pretty much the shortest flu I've ever had. Who knows!
Best of luck getting better though!
I think there is definitely something going around I started sneezing on thur night and still feel like I've been run over by a bus.
But yes your immune system is weekend when you are pregnant, so you are more susceptible to getting sick and it takes longer to fight it off.
Hope you get better soon!!!
