::sniffsniff:: update to my dentals woes from last week

You guys may might not remember but I had to go to the dentist for a toothache last Monday. I was scared b/c I thought I might have to have a root canal. They found some debris in my gum and thought it was a little bit of pregnancy gingevitis. They held off on the xray and we all crossed our fingers.

Over the weekend the pain became unbearable....another appointment today. Xray...definately need a root canal!! Crying

Now I have two torturous weeks to wait, not only in pain, but picturing how aweful it is going to be because I'm going on vacation and the surgeon couldn't fit me in before. Oh and I should expect additional pain from flying. This vacation will probably suck.

I just wanted to complain because...well it's not great news and I'm scared!

    I do remember and was wondering how it turned out.  So sorry you need a root canal and have to wait so long to get it taken care of.  I have a friend that had one while pregnant and she said it wasn't too bad so hopefully that's your experience.  Hope you can find some pain relief between now and then.  Have a great vacation if you can?
    I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

    Thanks! I need to suck it up and quit b!tching about it already, but the fear of the unknown is getting to me. I can honestly say I am more afraid of having a root canal than giving birth.

    I honestly feel your pain. I hate the dentist and have been recently tackling a lot of dental appts that I had let back up. That being said, when I was about 6 weeks pregnant I needed a root canal and I was absolutely terrified. Turns out it really wasn't that bad, the worst part of it all was that your mouth gets really dry and also a bit sore from being open. I couldn't feel anything except the initial shot of novacaine and overall my mouth was not sore after 2 days

    Bummer!  I had to get two root canals a couple of years ago and they weren't that bad. I'm not sure if pregnancy would make it any worse, but I doubt it.

    uuuuuugggghhh I feel your pain, I was in last week for my check up and I have to have a new crown done and they have to re-do another one. I'm so not looking forward to that....

    I work in a dentist office and honestly we do alot of root canals on pregnant women.  It really sounds much worse then it is, most patients cant believe its over and always say "well that was easy".  Did they give you any kind of antibiotic?  I know sometimes the thought of taking meds while preg. can make people nervous, but its really common. A couple days of amoxicillin and the majority of your pain would be gone.  Just a thought, at least you could have some relief before vacation.
