F/U: Anyone been to the PBK story time?

How was it?

I'm going to check out my local one tomorrow and was curious your thoughts on it?

EDIT: We went today and it was okay. DS is a little young for it but we'll go again. They sang a few songs and read Curious George. And you get a little book that they stamp and after 5 stamps it's good for $10 off any item (I think). The only problem for me is that it is in a nice outdoor mall and although the class is "free" I think it's going to end up costing us! I left there and stopped into one of my favorite shoe stores and left with a pair of sandals.

  • If you go back a few pages, someone recommended it.

I haven't had a good time there. My PBK is too crowded and full of pushy moms and kids......

  • I've only been once, when DD1 was around 9 months or so.... it was ok. Like Harriet mentioned, there were a lot of pushy moms and it was very crowded. But the guy reading the stories also played the guitar and DD loved dancing to the music. That part was cute, but I wouldn't go back for it (it's a 30min drive for us).

We really enjoy the Borders story time for DD1 now (2.5) and our library ones for younger toddlers/babies.

  • We've been a few times, and it's just okay.  I probably won't plan around it anymore, but if we happen to be at the mall at the right time (not likely), then we might stop in.  It gets pretty crowded, and unless you are there early, your child won't get a chair.  DD was interested for a few minutes (the last time we went she was about 15 months), but then she just wanted to run around the store.

We went to Border's a while ago for story time, and enjoyed it a lot more.  They had a large open carpet area for all of the kids to sit down, and it was just more comfy.

  • They actually have a stroller parking attendant at our PBK! LOL! That's how crowded it is. They have to designate an area of the mall for stroller parking........

  • Thanks for the feedback! I think we'll check ours out tomorrow. It's in an outdoor mall that has a Stride Rite too and I wanted to stop there and get DS shoes so if PBK is too crowded it won't be a total bust of a trip!
