XP: Thoughts on buying a friends travel system . . . .

I have a friend that wanted to know if I wanted to purchase her travel system. It is a chicco travelsystem  from 2008, great shape, three bases, never been in an accident. And they say carseats are good for 6 years. She wants to sell the whole thing to me for $200. What do you think? Would you take her up on her offer??

    This is a GREAT travel system. It retails in the stores after taxes for roughly 315$. I think if you can buy the used system (in excellent condition, of course) then it is a steal. However, I found one brand new, on craigslist, still in box for $200. Therefore, I think your friend could probably come down on the price a bit considering she got 2-3 years use out of it. I guess it depends on how good of friends you are.... But none the less, it is a GREAT travel system. Super light weight, very gender neutral, and the stroller is good for kids up to 50 lbs... I have a 4 year old who is almost 5, and could technically still hold up well in this stroller. (he doesnt use it of course) :)

    It seems like a good deal for a travel system, if you were going to get one to begin with. Personally, I find those strollers to be way too heavy/bulky and difficult to maneuver. Have there been any recalls? (According to Baby Bargains Chicco recalled 18,000 car seats in 2008, but I'm not sure what was included.) Can it be installed properly in your car? Just be sure to do the research and make sure this is something you really want. GL!

    I have that exact travel system.  I like it just fine, but I found that I walked more than I thought I would.  So I wish I would've gotten a BOB instead.  I think $200 for the system is a little overpriced - being that it is 3 yrs old and you can get a brand new set (not that one) for $200.

    I don't think there's anything wrong with buying it from her, if it's the one you wanted, but that price is definitely too high. 

    I have the same seat and bases from DS and it really is a great seat, we're looking forward to using it again.  And I know plenty of people with the stroller and they like it as well.  But $150 seems like a more reasonable price...at the most.
