Breastfeeding

Anyone overly cautious about using up stash?

I get so unbelievably stressed about using my frozen breastmilk.  I hate leaving LO because I am afraid the caretaker will feed him unneccessarily (for instance if he's fussy giving him a bottle instead of trying other methods to calm him first) and "waste" the precious milk.  It's to the point where I don't even want to leave LO because I don't want to touch the stash.  I fear that when I return to work I won't be able to pump enough and that I will need the stash and using it for any other reason is just wasting it.  The desire to save it is kind of getting crippling...

  • Yep.  I feel the same way except I'm not returning to work and I still get super stressed out when I have to use it.   I have no idea why.

  • I felt like that until I went back to work - I have a little bit of an oversupply, so I now have hundreds of oz's in the freezer and am worried about it going bad!

I still left my baby though - if she needed to eat while I was gone, I always pumped so would replace the milk.

  • If it makes you feel better, I never could freeze my milk. Lipase issues, I guess- it smelled rancid when it thawed. So we could only store milk for a week in the fridge. It worked out- DH had plenty to feed O while I was at school or work.
