XP from Attachment Parenting - moving from BF to solids and STTN

My DD is 4.5 months and is EBF. The last couple of nights she has gone from practically STTN to now waking up every 2 hours and needing to eat. It's like I am back to having a newborn again! I am so exhausted. I keep trying to think what could this be.

Is she going through the 4 month wakeful?

Is she going through a growth spurt?

Am I not producing enough milk?

Is she trying to tell me she needs solids to fill her up now? I just thought a BF baby could go longer with JUST milk.

I had originally planned to wait till 6 months to start solids but I read ALL the time about how FF babies are eating so much formula and then are still hungry etc. Am I reading into this too much? I really am not looking for signs to start solids early. DD does show signs like grabbing for things but she still has the tongue thrust. I still feel she could easily wait the 45 days to start solids but now this waking up every 2 hours to eat has thrown a wrench into things, like she is hungry more often.

Re: XP from Attachment Parenting - moving from BF to solids and STTN

  • my pedi recommended we watch for dd interest level in watching us eat.  does she watch you through the whole action (food to fork, fork to mouth, chew etc...).  My mom and MIL also suggested that at apprx 4 1/2 mo try seeing if she is interested in rice cereal at all.  i know that may not help too much, but i do agree, there is so much conflicting advice everywhere!
