Scared of the scale

I have my 16 week check up next week and I am DREADING stepping on the scale.  I had lost a lot of weight (15lbs)  before i got pregnant in March.  gained it back with the pregnancy and stress of the m/c (just didn't care anymore) so now I feel like McFatty :(

Re: Scared of the scale

  • I feel your pain.  I had lost quite a bit of weight before getting pg in January.  Then when I had my m/c I started eating my feelings.  Between that and getting pregnant I've gained a lot of it back.  I feel huge now.

  • I'm there with ya!  I was in the middle of losing the rest of the baby weight from DS when I got pregnant.  My OB told me yesterday that gaining only 15 lbs this pregnancy would be good.  I gained 25 with my last and I hope I can do only 15lbs with this one.  I'll be signing up at a gym ASAP!!

Best wishes on your next appointment!!!

  • My weight is always up and down.  I always take off my shoes and like to pee in the cup first before I step on the scale.  It just makes me feel better Smile

  • Me too! Our trip to California last week where we ate out all week probably didn't help. Oh, and the lack of exercise. Embarrassed

  • I've been reading the Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (which I love) and it's helped me to really calm down and not worry about body image and weight. It's hard not to get caught up in how crazy our bodies are changing but just try to remember that your body is doing something incredible right now. Also a cute suggestion was to not face the scale when you get weighed at appointments to help cut down the urge to obesses over weight gain. Your doctor will let you know if there is an issue with it so there really isn't a need to see the number yourself.

  • I've lost alot of weight too and terrified of the scale and gaining it all back.  My cravings have been mayo, butter and dehydrated marshmellows!  I thought for sure I would be up big time Surprise!  I lost weight.  Sending the same vibes to you.
  • You never know what the scale will say....when I went for my 16 week appt. yesterday I was certain I had gained several pounds, but I had only gained one!

I love that the book encouraged that.  That's exactly what I do because of my psycho self image issues.  I haven't known what I weigh in a long long time.  I just told my doc to let me know how many I've lost and/or gained and if there is a problem.  She's an overweight lady and is totally supportive of my choice in doing it that way.  :)
