AW/Vent: Subtlety missed, or people are just dense?

So last night, I decided to "announce" on FB.  I didn't want to do a status update of "We're pregnant" or something like that.  So, I put DS in a "Greatest Big Brother" shirt and took some really cute pictures of him.  I posted one picture (the one in my siggy) on my Wall.  I don?t know if people didn?t read the shirt, or maybe just don?t care (which I?m fine with). But the only people that commented were the people who already knew about the pregnancy! Even people who usually blow up every picture and status update didn?t say anything.  

 

 

I really don?t care if people are like ?OH EM GI!!! You?re pregnant???? I was just really surprised that people missed the ?subtle? hint. 

 

Oh well!  We are thrilled, and the people we loved are thrilled for our growing family!

    give it time people may not have seen it....mine didn't really blow up until the next day

    I was blunt about mine because of my history, so people really reacted.

    Give it time, some people might not be on yet :)

    Do you post a lot of pics of your DS? If so, people probably didn't click on it all the way to read the actual shirt. When people post a lot of pics of their kids I usually don't go into the picture to comment unless something really jumps out at me. But, they will see the other posts and then realize "OH EM G!! HOW DID I MISS THAT?!" haha. ;)

    I agree, people definitely don't click on everything.  For plenty of comments, post a clever status update soon....I think that's the only surefire way to get a lot of people to notice (if that is your intention).  :)

    I didn't want to post such important news very clearly either.  So the circle of friends who have known all along finally started posting questions about how I was feeling.  It was my response that caught the attention of a few, but most still haven't gotten it.  Don't worry, they'll figure it out soon, and you'll be able to enjoy the attention for days/weeks to come.  They certainly will feel stupid they didn't catch it earlier.  I applaud you for your subtle creativity.  :)

    I think I'll just wait until we know the gender then post something a bit more blatant for those who are a little slow on the upswing! Hehe

    I announced on FB by taking a picture of my 2 positive pregnancy tests. I get a message from one of my sisters asking why I was posting pregnancy tests on facebook *facepalm*

    I changed my profile picture to a jar of Prego sauce....no one really got it either and I had it up there for a couple of weeks...for some reason I do not feel like making a huge statement on facebook.  Except when we find out the gender I am sure the world will know!

    my dh and i both posted the sonogram picture at the same time with no status update. i got a few a responses but he got none until he made the status update the next day. unfortunately i think some people are just a little dense. give them time or break down and post the picture again with a look at my new shirt comment.

    Part of me wants to do that, but then I'm thinking "that's overkill."

     

    I'll just TRY to control myself and keep it on the D.L until the 20 wk u/s!

    I had bracelets made for my DDs that read "BIG BIG SIS" and "LIL BIG SIS". 

    They wore them at my youngest's birthday party and showed them to BOTH sets of grandparents when they arrived. NEITHER set "got" it! 

    My oldest DD told my MIL, "Mommy is going to have...it starts with a B."  MIL said, "Burgers, we're having burgers for lunch, right?" OY VEY! 

    Thankfully, my SIL got it right away and said "Congratulations!"  My ILs said, "For what?"

    Slow I tell ya!

    when I announced I posted "The alien is due to arrive February 2011" and posted a picture of said alien (11 week sono pic).  I also posted the video to "It's the end of the world".. people got that one.
