2nd Trimester

If you haven't gained much weight...

What are you doing for shirts? I have only gained 5 lbs when I had gained 30 pounds last time by this point. Obviously my old Maternity clothes don't fit because I lost all of my pregnancy weight.

My tighter shirts look like I am just fat and my maternity shirts look like I am wearing someone elses clothes. Are you just buying bigger non-maternity shirts? I am having such a hard time, My boobs are out of control because I am still nursing which makes it even worse...

Re: If you haven't gained much weight...

  • I haven't had to buy any new clothes yet. Target was having a sale on plain t-shirts, so I thought about just buying a few in a larger size since they're stretchy. I've only gained 1 lb so far, and I eat like a cow so I'm hoping that it doesn't come back to bite me later.
    I married a ginger.

  • I went to Kohl's and bought a couple of bigger regular shirts that seem to be working pretty well, and I bought a couple of empire waisted shirts that billow out a little at the tummy. I feel like I just look like I have a little beer belly and at this point I'd rather have a full-blown pregnancy belly than this!
  • I'm almost 20 weeks and only up 6 lbs and my XS maternity shirts look huge on me.  I've been wearing the pants with no problem and just wearing my regular shirts...if they are a little to short I've been layering them with a cami
  • I'm down 5lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I wear lots of dresses and some of my flowy maternity tops. I don't fill it out with a bump quite yet, but they work for now.

  • Old Navy had some cute long maternity tanks (some ribbed and some not) and I stocked up on those to layer under normal shirts. It also helps because I can pull the tank up to cover my cleavage if it's out of control. I've only bought 2-3 maternity shirts when I see ones I like. I've invested more in pants just because during my last pregnancy I only had 2 pairs of maternity pants and they barely survived the full 9 months!

  • I haven't gained much, but my belly is definitely huge.  And I'm carrying pretty low, so I cannot wear non-maternity pants.  Even the ones I have now that have the low band are uncomfortable.  Shirts I can still sort of get away with non- maternity ones if they are long, otherwise they lift up at the bottom.

  • I have only gained about 4.5 lbs but my belly looks like I am pregnant so I am still able to wear most of my old maternity shirts...my maternity pants are still big and keep falling but I just wear my bella band over them and it keeps them from falling.

  • I've only gained 8 lbs, but I am literally carrying all in the front. So I have to wear maternity bottoms, and mostly maternity tops. I have a ton of those v-neck tshirts from Target, and they are a bit longer so I'm still able to wear those. Otherwise, I'm totally in maternity stuff.

This shirt I have on from Old Navy though...I'm swimming in it. Apparently they think everyone that gets pregnant also ends up with triple D boobs? It's huge on the top!!

  • I just wear bigger and stretchy shirts. I like the long tissue tees from Mossimo at Target.
  • I am still down weight from my pre pregnancy size, but I only have one pair of pre pregnancy jeans that still fit. I am going to have to check out a belly band soon, because I don't think real maternity jeans will fit yet. As for shirts, I have been wearing alot of my husband's t shirts when we're just bumming, or running errands. I did order a couple of maternity shirts on clearance last week. I hope they fit when they get here!
  • I'm having a shirt problem as well, nothing looks right. Lately I've been wearing nicer tank tops with a short sleeve flowy sweater over it.
  • I've only gained 3 pounds so far (probably because I'm still breastfeeding) but I have belly so I'm wearing my old maternity clothes. Some of them look kinda big but they're comfy so I don't care.

  • I've switched into my old maternity shirts. I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy pants, but I wanted the length of the maternity shirts to cover my belly. Some of them do look huge, but I'm not sure what else to do! I'm up 7 lbs, and still nursing DD so I am mostly belly at this point.
  • I haven't gained any weight yet - but started a good 20 lbs overweight.  I ended up having to buy all new maternity clothes.  The medium tops often fit wierd, but I cannot get smalls because of my chest.  I actually purchased fitted non-maternity tops.  They look much better than the others do right now.

  • I am 20 weeks and have only gained 5 lbs as well. With DS I was up to almost 20 lbs by this time.

I went to MM and bought 4 summer tops in xs and bought 3 pair's of shorts at Nordstrom's. They aren't maternity but sure look it and are on sale!

That will last me for the summer. I'll have to do some shopping toward the end of Sept again for pants and sweaters.

  • I've been having problems with m/s and have lost a lot of weight. My chest is bigger than it was when I was pregnant with DS so none of those shirts would fit anyways. I bought maternity pants because the previous ones were too tight, but then when I started losing more weight, I was able to fit into my ones from DS, and now need a size smaller than those. Instead of buying more pants, I've just been wearing dresses ( both ones from pregnancy with DS and ones from before I was pregnant. If I do wear a top & bottom outfit I just wear the pants that are a little big and a regular (prepregnancy) shirt. I've found that dresses work for most occassions though.
  • First..congrats on another girl!!! We found out today we're having a girl too :D

Second I'm actually still loosing weight (very slowly, but safely). At home I still just wear the bigger maternity shirts, and out and about I try to stick with tunic like shirts that I can use a belt to cinch if need be, and I set aside a few dollars a month if I need to go up (or down) a size in shirts.

As I'm weaning (down to 1 bf'ing session!) my boobs are shrinking some, but I know they'll be up and out again in a few months, so I'm still hanging on to those oversized shirts and bras.
