Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If your LO gets up early what time do they nap?

DD is finally STTN but now gets up early - before 6am. She barely makes it to 12:30 -1:00 for her nap (she sleeps max 2 hrs). I hate to put her down much earlier because then she won't make it to bedtime (7-7:30).  Ugh.  What time does your LO go down?  Thanks!

Re: If your LO gets up early what time do they nap?

  • We are still on two naps a day. She usually goes down around 8ish for a 45 minute nap and then her long nap is from 1-2:30 usually. Goes to bed at 7:30.

  • Do you think she still needs two naps?  7 hours is a very long time to go without a nap, even if she's just doing one.  Or what if you do the one nap at 12 instead of 1 and then put her earlier to bed - like 6:30 or 7?  That's still a very appropriate bedtime and it shouldn't make her get up earlier.

  • Nik still goes down for a nap about 2 hours after waking up (so around 8:30 or 9am these days).  Then he takes a nap just after lunch.  Bedtime is about 8pm.
  • DS gets up around 6 or a little before, naps from 8-9:30 and the again from 1-3. ?His bedtime is 7pm.

Some days if she has a really long nap that may be the only one, but she's sort of half and half with taking one and two naps. Her big nap is anytime around 10:30-11:30 and she usually sleeps 2 hours. She sometimes has another nap around 2:30 to 3:30 for about 45 minutes, but it seems like it's slowly starting to phase out.

  • DS gets up between 6:30 and 7:00 am and is ready for his am nap by 9-9:30.  His afternoon nap is then usually 2:30.  He goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:00 pm.

  • The boys get up around 5:00 (sometimes a little later, but not often).  They'll usually take a brief nap on the way to DC and then after drop off for about 30 minutes.  Then they're good until their naps at 12:00 or 12:30 which are 2 hours.  They might take another short little nap on the way home, but usually they're good to go until bedtime at 8:00.
  • They are up by 6:30 and nap at 11/11:30 if I can stretch it.  They sleep max of 2 hours too, but are in bed by 6:30pm.

  • i would just make it a bit earlier- like 12ish and put your LO to sleep at 6:30ish. that way she is getting almost 12 hours at night. DD has been on one nap since about a year. Because of our schedule she used to get up at 6, but now gets up after 7. So her nap is at around 1-3:30, then goes to bed around 7:30ish.
  • DD gets up at 6 and goes down for her nap around 11:30 or 12. I give an early lunch at 11 to accommodate.
