Babies on the Brain

Crafty Ladies. Need ideas/help.

Mr. Val and I are refinishing an old dresser for Sadie's room and I'd like to line the drawers with some pretty paper.  I'm thinking I thee easiest way would be to decoupage, but I've never actually done a decoupage project.  Is it hard? Do you have any other suggestions to line a drawer with pretty paper? All the contact paper I've found is blah.
Sadie is not impressed.

  • I just lined DD's with pretty wrapping paper. It lasted long enough. I used spray adhesive in the bottom of the drawer, then laid it down.

  • Unrelated question: what color is that paint for the nursery (in your blog)?
  • Its sooo easy. But just remember use Mod Podge, its the best. And when you do it use a good quality paper or whatever you are using because the Mod Podge will make it thin.

    ETA: Or use spray adhesive.

I like Mod Podge as well.

It's Valspar Simply Seafoam.  I seriously love it.

  • Decopage is really easy, but def permanent. You can buy special decopage glue, but my mom swore by just watered down Elmers Glue. Same thing. Really you just slap a layer of glue down in the bottom of the drawer, press the paper into it, and then paint the glue on top also so that the paper is a little mushy and sticks. It will dry clear.

It will probably cause little lines and such, but with a patterned paper it actually adds to the charm. Make sure the colors in your paper won't run by testing it first - I decopaged some pics I'd printed out on my printer once and they ran.

I love colors like that.  I'm going to write that down.  Thanks!
