We won't be trying for at least another year or so but I really love the name Oliver. DS is Rowan (which is a tree) and Oliver means "olive tree" so I think it'd totally work if we had another boy. However, I have a feeling it is getting super popular but when I look at my city's hospital records, the only hospital that has the name records listed is an inner city one with the most popular names being DeAnthony, La-A, etc. so I don't think that really helps much

.
Re: How popular is Oliver?
I never used to hear it, and now I have had 2 first grade students with the name. Plus I see it here on the baby boards more and more (though not as much as names like Owen).
Did you check the SSA site?
Really - can you post a link to the "La-A" records? That would be a first as far as verifiable proof.
It has definitely jumped in popularity over the last 10 years ...
I don't think it will be the next Jacob, but if you are overly concerned about names in the Top 100, you might want to stay away from it. I love Rowan, by the way!

I know one little boy named Oliver in my area. I do think it'll make the top ten sometime in a few areas, but I think Aidan and Aiden will get there first.
Oliver is currently at number 98.
