Hi All,
After crunching numbers we decided on cloth diapers over disposables from a medical supply company. :-)
My question is about wipes. Are you using disposable or cloth wipes? I know cloth is the better option. However, I am not sure how to go about doing it.
How are you using cloth wipes? Do you put them in a warmer? Do you have a separate water basin? How are you doing it? Suggestions?
Re: Diapering / Wipes Question
When we used cloth wipes, I had a pile of dry wipes, and then some wipe solution in a spritzer (I tried different ones):

Have you used cloth diapers before? I know some people that love the 'old school' diapers (that the diaper services tend to use), but most cloth diaperers that I know prefer the new-style (such as bum genius)
good luck!

I had gotten lots of washcloths as gifts so I just put a couple dozen of the cheaper ones in one of the plastic containers that disposable wipes come in and have a bottle of the Bumgenius bottom cleaner to spritz on the bootie before I wipe. I don't keep my wipes wet. I still have some disposable wipes for the big blowouts but I find it a lot easier to use cloth wipes because you can throw everything in the wash rather than separate the wipe. Once I run out of the BG bottom cleaner, I'll probably just make my own spritz. I have heard of people using the peri bottle they give you in the hospital to wet the wipes. They just keep it full of water and use the bottle to get the wipe wet before using.

you can make cloth diaper solution very easily. Just google it. If I remember correctly I found 1/2 c. baby oil, 1/2 c. baby wash and 2 cups water. You definitely need more than just water so they are clean.
I am going to be using cloth diapers as well come October and will use the one size diapers. I may wait to use them after a few months though because they don't fit all newborns the same. For the first few months I may use prefolds or fitted diapers depending on what we decide we can afford.
I made my own wipes using 2 pieces of flannel sewn together. i keep them in a plastic container that disp ones came in. I keep them wet with water and a little baby wash. I go through them so fast they don't have time to get funky! I do use disposable wipes when we are out and about though.
We have a collection of BG's, FB, FluffyButts, and an assortment that I found on etsy.
