Gerber onesies are SO small

I knew they ran small, but I'm shocked... We were going through our baby clothing and I found some that looked like they'd fit.

Our daughter is about to outgrow her 0-3 month clothes so I'm getting ready to start washing her 3-6 month stuff. The Gerber 12 month onesies fit her perfectly. I think they shrunk a little bit in the wash since they looked a bit larger before that (but not a lot).  And they're rough!

Seriously? A 12 month onesie on my 12-pound 5-week-old?

Re: Gerber onesies are SO small

  • That is annoying. We registered for some too.
My friend told me she much preferred the Carter's onsies because they were thicker and fit her daughter better.

  • Yes, Carters is much nicer. I really like Target's Circo brand, too.

  • we received some as a gift, they are 6-9 months and when i compared them to carters it's the size of a newborn.. even smaller then the 0-3.. crazy! and yes i don't like the fabric either, very thin and scratchy

I will change that on my registry then. There is a Carter's outlet close by too. I'll stock up.

I registered for Gerber organic onsies. Are those better?

  • Oh nuts!  I got the 3 - 6 mos. onesie with a cross for DS party after his baptism in a couple of weeks.  Thought he would fit in it,but maybe not.

  • We got a package of newborn ones with mittens and side snaps on clearance for a couple dollars- I doubt they'll fit.

  • Yeah, I got some newborn ones at my shower and there was no way they were fitting Ryan.  Ever.  So I brought them to the hospital and donated them to the NICU.  Figured they might fit some of the preemies.

  • Yikes!! I didn't run into this problem, maybe because most of my onesies are anywhere from 5.5 to 4.5 years old(hand me downs from #1 &#2), but it's a good heads up not to buy them for the new baby. Maybe they changed where they're made to cut costs. Shame on Gerber.
  • Yeah.  I don't know why Gerber makes their onesies so dang small!  I prefer the Carters ones.

  • Yep.  Gerber onesies run VERY small and shrink big time.  We have had better luck with the Carter's onesies - they are more fit to size and better quality, IMO.

  • I too am going with Carter's onesies. The Gerber onesies seem so thin and cheaply made.  I love that the Carter's onesies are soft and thicker, plus you can find them at TJMAXX.
