It wasn't a seizure afterall!!!

Oh my gosh, what a day! After spending 3 hours at CHoP, we found out it wasn't a seizure, but INDUCED VERTIGO from spinning!!!!!!! Honestly, who knew that could happen!?!!! The nurse practitioner said it is a strange phenomenon that occurs with children usually (but can happen to adults, too) when the equilibrium is disturbed by spinning quickly. His eyes went back and forth, his body was tense, etc - it looked like a seizure (and I've seen many - my mom is epileptic!) Apparently the doctor was able to distinguish it wasn't a seizure because Jude's eyes went from left to right completely vs. going to one side and the middle and back. His EEG was totally normal (as was his CT scan and bloodwork from the ER on Saturday) so the doctor assured us we had nothing to worry about.

I am SO relieved! We've had nothing but drama the entire time I was pregnant so I feel like I can finally RELAX for a little while now!! Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers!

That's wonderful news!!! Reading your post brought back the memory of this happening when I was babysitting a neighbor's toddler about 15 years ago. I was spinning her around and around, and when I set her down her eyes rolled around and her head kind of kept spinning for a few seconds. It completely scared me to death, but then she snapped out of it and was fine. I had never heard of it happening to anyone else until you posted.

I'm so happy Jude is ok. Now you can focus on your big day coming up! :-)
