  • ugh that's frustrating!  you could try OTC clotrimazole (athlete's foot cream).  it's what my pedi recommended for yeast rash after antibiotics. cleared up the red that was on DS's tushie.

we had 5 pedi's before DS was 1.  you have to find one you are comfortable with.

  • Let me get this straight.

Your son is crying every time he pees and your doctor suggested you use, basically, a diaper cream to help him feel better. Have you researched natural options or are you just going to let him continue to suffer?

I don't understand what this doctor has done to offend you. Or why you need a 5th doctor.

Your baby is crying out in pain for you to help him. Not ignore him. Why did you even go to the doctor if you didnt want to do anything to help him?

  • We have thrush/nipple yeast. Nothing we have tried has helped. DH's aunt is a natural health practitioner, and she told us about indian fire tree bark. Its a tea, but i believe it can also be applied as a wash? We ordered it from clearwaterherbs.com

Just started using it over the weekend, so I cant claim that its working yet, but her patients have had good luck with it...

    Just passing it along.

  • your son is 4 months old, and has spent half his life in pain? And just now talking to the doctor about it--- and then ignoring the advice because its not EF? There is a line when you need to do what you need to do if EF isn't working.

In any event, there are 50 posts a week about getting rid of yeast on this board.  Have you tried any of those methods?

  • Um, maybe I'm misreading this, but I took her to mean that she was bothered that the doctor wasn't more concerned about the rash. She says she normally doesn't do medicines, but since it's been 2 months and he's still uncomfortable, she expected the doc to do more?

I don't know, that's just what I read- maybe she's trying to do the right thing before she gets jumped on.

(Or I'm totally reading it wrong- either way, I hope the kid gets some relief!!)

  • I'm with kdello on this one.  I think the OP is trying to get help for her son and frustrated that the provider she went to just basically "poopooed" the problem.  the doctor did not seem concerned that this child was in pain (for half his life) instead giving her the advice to use a barrier ointment.  (most rashes/yeast need air to help them dry/heal, so this suggestion is quite unhelpful).

the thing that is "offensive" is that this doctor did not listen to her pt's concern.  aquaphor is "brush off" answer for many pedis. it is the type of thing that isn't going to harm the kid (per se) but will placate the parent.

she is not ignoring her child.  she took him to the doctor for help.

i didn't see where OP said she wasn't going to follow the advice b/c it wasn't EF.

you guys are funny to be so offended? I didn't think i had to explain my whole life story as to why i don't like the doc and what i have used. Yes i have read about 5 or more post on here how to get rid of yeast and have done every.single.one.of.them! some helped but it came back..to name a few.....egg whites, mallox, baking soda bath soak ummmmmm cco and tto. He is on probiotics and its helping but the rash part on his penis looked different and didn't want to take him to the last doc since he told me there was nothing to worry about so i went to this one and she seemed not concerned. He hasn't cried when peeing all the time and she said it was from the irritation not uti which was my concern. i dont neglect my child. if he was screaming i would do something gees. also the doc disregarded my natural home remedies and treated me differently after telling her i like things done natural...................that is why i dont like her and she didnt even say bye or have a good day or nothing just left the room. I thought it was not nice.
Does that make you feel better or do i need to explain more?

My son is not crying everytime from peeing but has in the past a few times and took him to the doc! gees

he is not uncomfortable at the moment. he is fine. he just peed on the blanket and i didn't even know it. i am doing things to help and even did nystatin and the yeast creams. if he was in pain pain i would tell the doc i need something for it and insist on it. I did not expect to get jumped on....i see people do it all the time on here and i don't believe in it even if i feel differently on a situation. Thank you for trying to understand and not freak out :)

TTA with the above.  And, I am sorry for being catty...but can you please help me understand why your spelling and grammar are SO lacking!?!  The stuff is called Aquaphor.  It is a gentler, more pure version of petroleum jelly essentially.  Your doctor didn't tell you to give your LO cocaine, geez.
