DH still surprises me sometimes

I'm used to going to all my appointments alone, due to his work schedule and the constant monitoring at my RE office its second nature now. We've been able to work around his schedule for big things like the NT Scan but for most others I just go alone. Anyway, today I had my monthly appt and I called him when I was done to give him the update and told him the HR. He asked if I was able to see the baby's hands and fingers and what position s/he was in. I was like No we didn't have an U/S just the doppler. He sounded so disappointed. He's an EMT and so matter of fact about these things I didn't realize how affected he was missing the appointment. And I needed to hear that from him, it's been a rough road for us to get to where we are and I've often felt alone.

I understand how you feel. My husband is self-employed and if he doesn't work, he doesn't earn money. He's not always able to make it to the appointments but he did get to hear the heartbeat this week and will make it to the 20 wk ultrasound. It's disappointing when he can't be there but my mom usually fills in for him.

Same here he doesn't work he doesn't get paid. My mom has filled in a couple times for him as well. We scheduled the anayomy scan today and made sure it was on his day off. He's looking forward to that.

My DH is in the Navy and hasn't been to any of my appts either. The only reason he's going to see out anatomy scan is because he's actually on leave when it's scheduled! It'll the first time he's been to the Dr. with me this pregnancy. Granted, it's our 3rd, but every baby is different and it's exciting to see your baby on the u/s screen.

I really hope your DH manages to come to an appointment with you. It's hard for a dad to miss out on all this stuff, whether it's the first time around or the 5th.
