Sigh...good grief. DD wakes up at the end of the sleep cycle transition at 45 minutes. I know it'll eventually get better, but (sigh, again) it's taxing doing the up and down 4 naps a day thing! I make sure she doesn't get overtired, but I wait for her sleepy cues. She's doing pretty good at night - gets up a few times to eat (BFing) but I can handle that. Sometimes just think it might be nice for me and, ultimately, good for her to sleep longer than 45 minutes for her nap.
I know I shouldn't "complain," as it will get better and all...just, momma needs a break!
Re: When does the 45 minute wake-up end? :)
I had a cat napper just like you for many, many months. I tried a few things - making sure he wasn't over-tired when it was nap time (I think at that age maybe 90 minutes of awake time - but pay attention to the sleep cues first). Also, something I did during the day that eventually helped at night (per some modifications from No Cry Sleep Solution) - was to pick him up when he first woke up and rock him back to sleep. I could tell when he woke up from a nap refreshed and when he was still tired. When he was still tired, I would rock him and sometimes he'd go back to sleep and sometimes he wouldn't. I was amazed, though, that after a week of doing that, he was finally sleeping through that 45 minute wake-up. Sadly, that didn't happen at 3 months, but I wasn't trying anything at 3 months either (I was like - okay, I got 45 minutes - better shower and get dressed) - so good for you for wanting to try something.
Just be patient, mama... it will come!
