ghosthunters? really?

Ok, so a couple years ago a little boy was shot while trick or treating with his dad and brother. The front porch light was turned on and so they thought it was safe to go up to the door. Apparently not...the guy inside opened fire and shot through the walls, windows, and doors. The father and one little boy were hurt, but not dead. The other boy died on scene. This all happened in the house next door to mine at the time. We weren't home, but my parents two miles down the road could hear the gunshots and thought it was fireworks.

Well, now the idiot that is living in the house has decided that it's being haunted by this little boy.  And crazy ghost hunters from some show on A&E are running around all over the place. My husband and I went to check the mail tonight (we just moved last week) and saw all the people. There were cars stopping on the road to see what was going on...police  there getting their pictures taken with the ghost hunters...really?? All because a 12 year old little boy was in the wrong place at the wrong time...he did nothing wrong. If I were him I think I would come back and show these people a thing or two. I can't believe that they're flaunting his death. I'm just waiting to watch the show and see if they say we moved because there were ghosts. They kept asking to talk to us and we kept saying "no we don't believe in ghosts". My husband had a few other choice words for them, but I won't repeat that here.

  • I have to admit - I love that show.  I find it interesting.  But, I probably would get irritated by everyone running around the neighborhood.

  • I usually only lurk on here, but I found this post to be so ridiculous.  Why are you so bent out of shape about it?  Some people believe in that kind of stuff and some don't.  Do you always think people who have different beliefs than you are idiots and crazy?  Are you that small-minded?  The person who lives there must have had some kind of odd experience that made him want to explore the paranormal possibility. I don't see how it's "flaunting" the boy's death in any way, shape, or form.  If you don't believe in the paranormal, no biggie, just drive away and be glad you moved.  You don't need to act all offended over it... it has nothing to do with you afterall.

I laughed at this. You aren't from my town. You have no clue what ghost hunters running around a super small town does. A 12 year old boy was SHOT and KILLED on Halloween while trick or treating. He was a LITTLE BOY. He did nothing wrong and nothing to deserve being put on A&E because he picked a drug dealers house to go to. Not his fault. He didn't ask for it.  If he hadn't been shot and killed they wouldn't be filming now would they?

Oh really... How do you know what town I'm from?  How do you know I'm not from a small town with a haunted history?  You don't!  But that's neither here nor there.  What happened to the boy is obviously terrible, and utterly horrifying.  I am not debating that.  If you used your brain and read my post, you would have noticed my point, which is that just because YOU think the paranormal stuff is crazy and idiotic, does not mean that everyone does.  The paranormal shows on A&E do not "flaunt" people's deaths.  They are surprisingly very respectful of the people who have passed and their personal missions are to help their souls rest in peace.  I'm not saying that I do or don't agree with the whole paranormal aspect of things, but the last thing they are is disrespectful of the dead.

Now I'm not getting into it beyond that.  You are just a stereotypical small-town small-minded person.  And thanks for your use of CAPITALS, but I can detect the intonation of a sentence without them - thank you very much.

Based on your theory, that would mean that even a news reporter is "flaunting" the death of murder-victim Joe Schmoe when it ends up on the 11 o'clock news... when in reality, all they are doing is telling a story.  I mean, Joe Schmoe sure didn't "deserve to be killed"... but if he hadn't been, they wouldn't be at the crime scene filming, now would they?
  • I agree with the OP. It wasn't very long ago that this happened and I sure the little boy's family is still in the area and obviously still greiving his death. I think it's disrespectful to be filming a show that people watch for entertainment on this boy while his family is still mourning his death. I think of ghosthunters as doing shows about ghosts who have haunted really old places, KWIM?

  • Ehhh kinda.  I do see your point, but I've seen plenty of shows where the "ghosts" were of people who passed just a few years prior.  For alot of the families I saw, it helped to bring some closure to their loss.  But idk, there are so many shows lately featuring the paranormal that maybe we've seen different ones.  If it were my loved one who was potentially stuck in limbo and unable to pass on, I would not be offended by this at all, honestly.  Plus, they're always so respectful of the deceased - that's the whole point of the shows!!!
