Is getting in with an RE always this much of a PITA!
My OB gave me one name over the phone and a different one in a brochure. He still hasn't called to confirm where he was recommending I go (I left a message Monday afternoon). I got an appointment with the one from the brochure, but I really don't like the sounds of the place. Its also not located where my OB thought it was, its more like a 90 minute drive.
There's a clinic closer and I really like the sounds of. I've had friends use them. I called and their next opening for a new appointment is in NOVEMBER! Ok, I will go insane if it takes that long.
I just want to see a stupid RE...that's all.

I think I read your mind
I just got off the phone with them. I made an appointment (Nov 23rd) and asked to be put on the cancellation list. She said I was 6th on the list and told me how it worked. She also said that they are trying to get "extra days" with the doctor since he is only in their office 2 days out of the month. If that happens, I'll get an appointment sooner.
I am going to keep my appointment on Sept 7th with the one that I'm not sure about. I guess worse case, I'll be out $300 to go there and find out if I like them or not. If I get in with the other place before then, then great.....if I like this office ok, then I'll cancel my Nov I guess. We'll see how it plays out.
UGH!! this is exactly why i don't want to wait till Dec. like my OB told me to do before seeing an RE. what if it takes a while to get an appt. jeez.
Well i say go see the RE you got an appt. with but in the meantime can you make an appt. w/ the other RE too just in case you don't like the RE you're gonig to see.
I'm a little worried about that too. Although it sounds like he's in the office further north more often. Would be more of a drive, but managable. I think he just tries to be there to figure out the plan and do the more complex procedures, but others in the office with him do the u/s and stuff.
ETA: I just read their IVF protocol and that is the case. The nurses do everything except for developing the protocol, retrival, and transfer. Those are done by the doctor. All the u/s are reviewed by the doctor and he has the nurse call on the dosage of meds to take.Jenn
