?s for those with the Rock n Play sleeper

I am planning on using this for the first couple weeks, maybe longer, for LO to sleep next to our bed. Should I find some kind of sheet to put down first? Or a waterproof pad? Also, is LO able to be swaddled and sleep in this? I was wondering about the safety straps, do you use them?

  • I don't use a sheet or anything under her, although you could use a waterproof pad if you are worried about leaking diaper.  I swaddle her and do not use the straps.  There is no way possible she could ever fall/roll/jump/get out of this thing.  It's very deep.

That's what I was wondering, I haven't taken it out of the box yet.  Thanks!

  • We don't use a sheet under him, but I have put a cloth diaper between his legs and under the harness, as we've had a few accidents...and had to wash the entire cloth insert. I'd stay away from any extra fabric near your baby's face. We have swaddled while using this, but haven't done so in the past week, as we're trying to only swaddle at night right now (we only use the rock-n-play in the daytime). It is interesting, as he doesn't seem to need the swaddle as much in the rock-n-play as opposed to a regular bassinet.
  • We planned to use a small sheet saver but decided against it since the liner is washable.  We swaddle him in there and don't use the straps.  I don't feel they are necessary since he's pretty deep in there and can't get out, especially at only 5 days old.

ditto all of this. We put a regular bath towel over it since she occasionally will spit up.

  • we put a small blanket under DD when she would sleep in there but kept it only under her back and legs so it would cover the straps (no where near the head). She loves her rocker and is napping in it now!
