Water Breaking (for 2nd + timers)

For those who've 'been there, done that' with labor and delivery, even if you had a c/s- did your water break?

With both of my last pregnancies, my water sac had to be broken for me in the delivery room. (DEAR BALLS OF FIRE!!! PAAIIIIN!!)

But then, you see videos like this on YouTube of women's waters breaking while doing things like dancing, cooking, being scared, etc! I'm like, wow, that actually happens?

So tell me, how did you water break last time? Or did you have to have your OB break it for you?

They broke mine for me while I was in labor, but it didn't hurt at all.

My husbands alarm clock went off for work at 5 am, I felt a "pop" stood up so I could get to the alarm clock to turn it off and I gushed!!

They broke it for me when I hit 4 cm.. That didn't hurt but the contractions immediately after were killer!!! Now I have to go check out youtube!!!!

Mine broke on its own at home at 39 weeks. I was peeing and when I got up from the toilet I noticed I was still "peeing". I sat on the toilet for 2 minutes before it sank in what happened. I still didn't believe it so I did the pad soak test and sure enough I soaked the pad withn 5 minutes. I called my doc to tell her and then I went for an hour walk (with a handtowel in my pants!) Then came home to watch my dvred season finale of the Office, showered and relaxed for another hour or so before I went to the hospital. Even though my water broke, it was not at all the crazy rushed scene you typically see on t v.

Mine broke around midnight with no signs of labor prior. I had on and off contractions through the night, then at 9 i had my weekly appt, she did an internal and confirmed it broke- and that kickstarted faster and intense contractions- then he was born at 1:42

while sitting in the waiting room at L&D. I felt the urge to pee so I got up to go to the bathroom. now while it did seem like alot more fluid then normal I didn't think anything of it until after I was in a labor room and they asked me when my water broke.

I was 24 weeks. I was getting dressed and my underwear was soaked immediately, and then I soaked through two panty liners immediately. I lay on the bed while I waited for my doctor's office to call me back, and when I stood up after a few minutes, it was like a waterfall. It didn't hurt. I didn't feel a thing.

Mine broke at 2:00 am when I was sleeping. I was 38 weeks exactly. I ran to the bathroom and it continued to gush. In fact, I leaked all the way to the hospital and I was still in denial that my water had broken. I wouldn't let DH call anyone to let them know that we were in labor until they confirmed that I was in fact leaking amniotic fluid.

My water broke at the hospital when I was about 8 cm dilated. I was standing next to the bed rocking through a contraction when "Gush!" It was like I dropped a water balloon on the floor

I was induced 5 days early with #1 so they broke my water. It was after my epi, so no pain.

I went into labor on my own with #2, but again, they had to break my water. I don't remember pain but I'm pretty sure it was before I had my epi.

I'm going to assume the same will happen this time around. My body knows how to do everything to get the baby out but pop the bag.

My water broke when I stood up from a chair. It didn't gush, but was only a trickle when I changed from sitting to standing. OB said it it was probably a tear, and that when I stood up, DS managed to block it. We got ready and went to L&D and they made us stay since it had broken but contractions didn't start for over 4 hours after I arrived.

Mine broke. Aiden was due Oct. 5th, and I was put on bed rest on the 1st. That night I remember waking up to do my nightly bathroom run at 2am and when i got back in to bed. I thought oh ok that wasnt so bad. No one told me that it keeps gushing out with each contraction. so I change clothes go down stairs and it just kept coming out. That was a suprise. At least I know what to expect next time.

Mine broke while I was putting oil in my car with my first (second was a planned repeat c-section) well it partially broke. It would gush periodically through out the day.

The OB broke my water at 5 cm. my bff's water breaks quite dramatically with all her pregnancies to start labor.

I think I'm in the minority here, but mine was a big dramatic GUSH. For whatever reason my water breaking was never something that I was worried about (like it happening in public, etc). Luckily I was already at the hospital because my contrax were only a few mins apart and I was 4cm dilated. The nurse had me walking the halls and I felt this 'pop' and a few seconds later it gushed out. And kept coming and coming and coming. Ultimately I was so greatful that I was in the hospital and not somewhere public, or even somewhere that I would have had to clean it up. This time I'll definitely be paranoid about it happening in public.

With my 1st they broke it in the hospital after my epi so I didn't feel a thing...but with the 2nd I had not had my epi yet and I totally agree with the (BALLS OF FIRE!!! PAAIIIIIN!!) I was like a cat scrambling to get up the bed away from the doctor! Wow! I will be induced again for a 3rd time with this one due to the blood thinners I am on...I have to be off of them for 24 hours before I can deliver or I could bleed to death.

mine started leaking at 2 30 am. I kept getting up to pee cuz i kept feeling wet. so we decided to go to the hospital an hour later. and the nurse told me it hadnt broken.... but when the doc came in to break my water at 5 cm... she said my fluids were very low and asked if it had broken and I explained everything to her, so it infact was leaking the whole time

We were out with friends for dinner. At a restaurant, super crowded, at 9pm the day after Thanksgiving.

I felt something weird, and told H I was heading to the bathroom. I took a few steps and felt a little pop, so I turned around and said to H "I think my water's breaking." He said "What?" And then, GUSH. I yelled (apparently) "My water's breaking!!" Jammed my hands between my legs, and ran to the bathroom, where I sat sobbing on the toilet until my friend came to rescue me. I cleaned the bathroom floor before I left.

And we got a standing ovation when I came out of the bathroom.

LOL!! Love the standing ovation, That's just awesome!!

When I said it hurt, I meant the doctor having jammed her hands up inside me to break it. The actual bag breaking didn't hurt at all, her stinking crummy fingers jammed up there like she was grubbing for gold is what HURT!!

Thanks for sharing your stories, ladies- some of these were really funny! It sounds for the most part like it's not that of a scene.
