Does anyone have a crazy sports obsessed dh??? Please help!!!!

So my husband is a totally nut job when it comes to sports games. I'm not talking just yelling and cursing here and there at the games - I mean screaming at the TOP of his lungs every single time they do something wrong..... I was so excited when baseball season was over becuase they play so much and now the stupid Phillies are in the playoffs and last night they lost and he was being rediculous. He feels like it's his way to release stress or whatever.... but it's really out of hand. He thinks its not a big deal and other people are like tha - I don't think so  - he takes it to another level. And it really really stresses me out! He does have a "sports cave" in the basement but I can still hear the madness. I have no idea if this will ever end... he says that he won't be that way with the baby here but I don't think I'm buying it.  I hope no one else have to deal with this crap!

  • I am crazy obsessed about sports, so I get where he is coming from.  It is fun to cheer for your team!  What is wrong with him getting excited once the baby arrives?

I fully expect to teach our little girl to love sports like I do.

  • Mine is, but not in a loud way like that. My DH seriously pretty much only watches ESPN and spends most of his computer time reading about sports and working on his fantasy football league

  • Oh don't get me wrong - I love watching sports and going to games.... but it's really a little nuts. You cannot sit and watch a game with him becuase of the volume and the words that come out - it's uncomfortable for anyone who is there.

    Ha... I WISH they lost.

But no, my DH is not quite so obsessed.  His obsession with sports is more at a normal level.  Sorry you have to deal with that, I'm sure it's frustrating.

  • i am SO glad that neither my DH or I like sports. my parents were like that growing up (steelers fans) and it drove me insane.
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • Mine is and of course this baby girl is due right around the SuperBowl... I've already been advised to find a new birthing partner if she decides to come that Sunday, lol.
  • The strange thing is he was never really into sports until we started dating... he really has no clue about rules & things. I seriously want to put a muzzle on him.

  • Oh geez and they freakin won! You would never know by the yelling and screaming!

Well they were losing until they scored 4 runs in the 8th (bastards).  I'm sure that's what he was yelling about.

  • My DH is obsessed too! I don't mind it too much except when college basketball starts. He is a HUGE (over the top) Carolina fan and that is when it goes to the extreme. He watched the TV, but turns the volume down all the way and has the radio playing because he likes this one announcer that is on the radio. There is about a 2 second delay so you hear it on the radio before the TV......drives me nutty!!! He gets very into it. Screaming and all that jazz.  It is best that DD and I just leave the house on game days!!!
  • My DH is a sports freak and sometimes truthfully it really sucks!  He does the same thing and will yell at the TV.  He has to watch EVERY football game that is on TV.  So pretty much he is useless every Sunday and it sucks.  In the winter, he loves to watch high school wrestling in his hometown.  So, he will be gone many nights to watch that and he even takes 3 days off to go to the state tournament.

I don't think it will ever get any better.  It doesn't help that I don't like sports at all either.  I just get too bored watching sports!

  • Oh and it doesn't help any that I am from MA. and a Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan....he hates that I rub that in his face all the time! Titletown baby!!!!
  • wow and i thought it was just my dh that was completely nutso bout it. if its not on tv, its on the radio or checking something on the computer i have no idea. its such a headache to me to be on 24/7. uve got to tell ur DH he's got to take it down a notch when baby is here with teh screaming and what not altho baby can hear him now too!!
  • Bstngrl, let's not get too cocky about the Sox after yesterday's pitiful performance...

My DH is a big fan, but he doesn't take it too personally.  My bigger pet peeve is fantasy sports.  DH has backed down a little bit because he has so many more obligations on his time, but fantasy sports used to eat up a serious chunk of his time.

  • Hey watch it, don't call the Phllies stupid...they're kicking a** and I love them!!!!   Wink

I feel your pain though....it's annoying when DH flips about the Eagles since I'm not really into football.
