DD is still using her soothie paci. Well, technically, she is using a wubbanub She is almost 9 months! Anyone else have a little one this age still using a soothie/wubbanub. I have tried switching over to an "older" or "normal" paci and she will have nothing of it. She really only uses it to sleep but she will NOT go to sleep without it and I feel so bad just letting her cry

Do you think the soothie is bad for her? Should I be pressing the issue or just let her drop it in her own time?
Re: STILL using soothie???
We stop using the paci on Friday night, and like you said, it's mostly for sleep. The first night was the worst, but it's getting better, so are naps.
I wanted to get rid of it before he gets even worse with it for sleep (he keeps letting it drop out while sleeping but wants it when he wakes up). Also before he can hate me for taking it away from him. At this point he hates me when he is trying to get to sleep but then loves me again when he wakes up!

Call me an awful mother, but I finally took mine away from my toddler a week after his 2nd birthday. Yeah, he had the newborn one for that long. I couldn't get him to take the 6+ month version. I took it away when he bit through the mouth portion and he hasn't had it back since.
FYI--this binky REALLY messed up my son's teeth when they came in. He had it all the time, I'm not going to lie, but he had terrible binky mouth. As soon as we took away the binky, his teeth moved into their correct position. I always wanted him to have the Nuk or another orthodontic pacifier, but he got the Soothie in the NICU and took to it immediately. Now that I've seen what it did to his teeth, I stalked DS2 while he was in the hospital and had it specifically in my birth plan to not offer the Soothie.
My DS still uses the Soothie/Wubbanub and I don't have a problem with it. He loves it. I have read many places that pacifiers won't actually hurt their adult teeth alignment unless they are using them around age 4/5 so I wouldn't worry too much about using this one vs. something else.
And p.s. My hubby and I are from Elkhart/SB. = )
