St. Louis Babies

New to St. Louis Area

Hi

I just moved here with my 3 month old baby girl for my husbands new job. We are currently staying in temporary housing in Arnold while our house is being built in Hilsboro/festus area.

I am looking for a great peditrician and ob/hospital to deliver future kids at. Also are there any mommy group?  Iowuld love to get our and meet some mom. I am a stay at home mom and right now very bored.

Any other thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated- we have only been here 2 weeks!

Thanks

  • Welcome!  I am not sure how close you want to be to the hospital that you will be deliver, since Fesuts is south, but I know St. Clare Health Center (in Fenton) is really nice an not too far from you.  There are quite a few doctors affiliated with them (SSM network).  I don't have any personal recs, but after I found a few doctors that were affiliated with my hospital (St. Lukes), I used google to look up reviews to pick my OB and pediatrician.

  • Thank you both very much, I will look into both St. Lukes and St. Clare.
  • Welcome!  Another great hospital to deliver is Missouri Baptist (part of BJC). They are located right at 40 and 270, so very easy highway access for you.  We are going to use Dr. Jennifer Arter @ Blue Fish Pediatrics (Ballas and Manchester).  I've been referred to her from several friends and have heard great things about the practice!  Luckily, St. Louis has several excellent hospitals!

  • I have lived here for a short time now. I had a c-section at st johns in march and my doctors and nurses were awesome. I love my ob doctor however she is a high risk doctor and she was the best. If i am lucky enough to get prego again I will go back to st johns. they have also just added a peds hospital.
  • I second St. Clare. It's a great facility. I actually ended up there for 4 days during my 2nd trimester and the care was amazing. The rooms are more hotel than hospital and it's 100% private. The ER was fabulous and didn't just care that I was comfortable but that my family was too.

I honestly can't say enough about the facility and the great care and pride they have in what they do.

  • We love our pedi at St John's.  Dr. Kasper.

Looking for an OB...if you are looking for support for a natural birth I have heard that MoBap or St. Luke's are the hospitals to go to.  St John's worked for me, and that is where I have med  insurance.

Welcome to St Louis.  As for moms' groups, you can do a google search.  Or maybe check out the strollerfit or strollerstrdes classes.

  • Welcome to St. Louis.  My husband and I live in Pevely, which is just a few minutes away from Festus.  My OB delivers at St. Clare in Fenton so that is where I will go.  I have heard great things about the hospital.  Plus, it is less than a year old so I like the fact that they have the latest technology.  Hope this helps!
