Hey ladies,
I just got home from my weekly check-up and she checked to see how I'm progressing (didn't strip my membranes though, I said no to it for now since I still feel good). I'm 1cm dilated and my cervix is starting to thin. I was surprised, I thought I'd be all closed up still She said it could still be a little while or it could be as early as tonight... that's part of the whole process I guess
I'm thinking it's good that I'm progressing though and she said it's definitely what they look for and it's very positive. What were your experiences?
Re: Weekly check-up, some progress
Thank you!
Seriously, where IS the time going? I'm about to pop and your little guys are getting their first teeth, wow!

how exciting!
w/me i wasn't dilated at all for a while but in the last couple of weeks the ob said my cervix was "softening." up until the day my water broke, i was still only "a fingertip dilated" so you never know! even after my water broke and i was admitted, i was still only 1cm...

Good to know
I was thinking progress is progress but when my Dr. said it could be 2 more weeks, it could be 2 more days... it's just a waiting game from now on. Thanks ladies!

Wow, I can't believe you're so close already! Time sure flies!!
Good question. Wow, I can't believe I'm so forgetful already but I couldn't quite remember anymore! So I checked my pregnancy blog (good thing I wrote it all down!) and here's what happened to me: 2 weeks prior, I was 1cm and not effaced at all. The next week I was 2cm and 30% effaced, but he wasn't dropping at all (-3 station at most). Then, 2 days before I went into labor, I was 3cm and 60% effaced and still -3 station. I was 4cm when I got to the hospital.
But like pp said, it's different for everyone, so who knows, but enjoy your rest and sleep while you can! And keep us posted! So exciting! I'm getting all nostalgic thinking about those days!
it was similar with me - on Thurs at my appt, I was 1cm, so I was supposed to go in Monday (I was due Sun) to talk about induction. Well, Monday morning around 1:30 am, my water broke! So he was born at 40 wks, 1 day.
you are getting so close!
she is right - there is no good way to predict
that is part of the excitement, right?
I didn't have any internals until about 7 hours before Jack was born. First check happened because contractions were getting semi-painful and I was almost at a 2 - had been in labor for 5 hours (water broken for 6). I was only at "4" two hours before he was born. Then there are some people, like inamra that had slow, charted progress for weeks before hand. who knows.
Just relax and enjoy yourself
Yay! I'm so excited for you!!! It seems like just a few months ago you wrote a post about being pg and now you're almost a mommy!
I really hope you get the experience of your water breaking and getting contractions! Although I was lucky to give birth vaginally, I didn't get to experience the excitement of getting contractions on my own since I was induced.
Hope your getting lots of rest and enjoying your you time!
