Colicky...?

I just don't know what's wrong with LO. She cries all the time and doesn't want to BF. I thought it was gas and have been trying EVERYTHING to help her but she's still upset. She wants nothing to do with me and it hurts. :( She will eat for 5 minutes and then scream...I burp her for like 10-15 minutes then try to bring her back to the breast and she screams louder and pulls away. She's been this way for a couple weeks...if she's up she's crying and sometimes nursing...It makes me feel horrible....we've tried giving a BM bottle and she still screams...I thought it was my milk but there's really nothing else I can eliminate in my diet that would be upsetting her.

  • She could just be fussy.

  • does she spit up alot? Could be reflux???
  • Do you have oversupply or a fast letdown?  I had/have both and my son was SO fussy.  I had a LC come and help me--she had me doing block feedings and letting my son pull off for part of the letdown.  I am now able to do one side per feed, plus my son got used to the supply/let down as he matured.

I felt the SAME way as you.  I was so frustrated with breastfeeding and I was in tears while my son screamed.  If this is your problem, believe it or not, it has a solution that works in about 7-10 days.  My son can now have his eyes open for longer than 40 seconds without crying/screaming!!

  • It sounds like my DD, she has a milk protein allergy, we're on enfamil nutramigen, I don't know if you would want to try that to see if that would help or not.  Good luck!
