Anyone team green?

Sorry if it's been asked on here on the past, I haven't been posting for too long. We've talked about it before I got pg and are thinking we might want to be team green. DH likes the idea of being the one to come out afterward and make the announcement to the family. We've had a boy and girl name picked out for ages. The nursery will probably be owls/birds/trees regardless of whether it's a boy or girl. Green is my favorite color anyway! Honestly, I know my family and they will go OVERBOARD with clothes so I thought team green might also help them wait until the baby is born to spoil him/her. Big Smile We might change our minds, but I kind of have always thought it would be fun to be a surprise!

Re: Anyone team green?

  • We are 98% sure we will be team green. I think it will be exciting.

  • We're team green as well. I loved the surprise last time and I'm excited for it this time.

We were team green for DS, per DH's request : ).  It killed me the whole pregnancy not to know!  This time around we are going with MY request : ) and finding out!!  I want to be able to call the baby by his/her name while still in utero, and want to be able to plan baby and DS's shared room before a baby would arrive.  But, DH thought it was the best thing in the world to have that surprise in the delivery room, and he was so proud of himself to be able to say "It's a BOY!" before anyone else : ).

We are team green as well.  My husband is excited to make the announcement to everyone as well!

  • You ladies have more patience than I do.  I want to know for sure.  I am a planner and need to be able to plan!
  • At first DH was bugging me that he wanted to know. I never wanted to. This weekend he went to visit his friend and his friend told him how wonderful it was to be surprised at the birth of his two children. DH came home and told me that he now wants to be surprised! I'm so glad he changed his mind!

  • We found out the first time around, but we're considering going Team Green this time.  I'm not sure I can do it without killing DH first over names.  Even when we knew it was a boy the first time around, we could only narrow it down to four names before he was born.  I can only imagine how difficult picking names will be if we don't know the gender.  But I do think it would be fun.

  • We were team green with DD and will be with this one. It wasn't my choice, but DH didn't want to know and since he really doesn't have an opinion about a ton of things, I figured I'd give in to this one thing. Now we are hooked. It kept me from spending a ton of money, and while I didn't get to go crazy decorating, I think what I did after she was born is pretty awesome.

It was absolutely indescribable finding out in the delivery room. She came out and they laid her on my chest and no one said anything! I finally asked "Sooo, is it a boy?" (I was convinced it was a boy, we didn't even have a girls name picked) and then they looked and DH said, "Oh my gosh! What are we going to name her?!" It was hilarious. I looked at her for days and would say, "You're a girl!" It was just awesome and I recommend it to everyone!

  • It would be exciting, but DH and I definitely want to find out the sex. I'm too much of a planner and need to have everything done.

  • I would like to be team green but my DH already has two girls from a previous marriage so he would like to know if he is finally going to have a boy or if there is another girl in his future.  We already have both a boy and girl name picked out.  With his first daughter they kept it a surprise and found out with the second.  I would still like to wait but my husband may win this battle in the end.
  • We're team green!  We can't wait for that exciting moment in the delivery room!

  • We were team green the first time around and it was awesome. I loved having DH tell me that it was a girl.  This time, we are going to find out, only because we have a VERY small house and cannot continue to store all the baby girl clothes if we aren't going to have another girl (we have A LOT of clothing because our families are crazy overgifters).  We need to get rid of them to make room for boy clothes if need be.

exactly....but more power to you all!

  • We're team green.  We found out with DD on the condition that our next pregnancy we would wait to find out.  Theoretically, I'm excited to be on team green.  In reality, I think it's going to kill me.  Smile
  • I barely have the patience to wait two more weeks for our first u/s. No way could I make it through 8 more months not knowing!

I think that's how I feel right now. I WANT to know, but I also don't want to in the grand scheme of things.

  • We're team green. I think my SO would like to find out but he left it up to me and I was pretty certain of wanting to wait. As much as I would enjoy the early planning/shopping, I really am looking fowrard to the moment in the delivery room.

  • Team green here:)
  • We plan to be team green, at least for #1.  I don't like it when things are too gender-specific, especially the pink for girls.  Our nursery is already painted yellow and we are leaning towards a jungle animals theme.

  • We won't be anywhere near team green. I am sure that it's really great and such a fun experience...but I would go crazy! Already I think it's a girl..and to not know the whole time? Goodness, I don't think I could take it. I really admire those that hold out - but my husband is on the same page as me, so we will find out ASAP.
  • We were team green for #1 and it was exciting :)  I'm torn about what to do this time.  My only motivation for finding out is because I feel like I need to prepare our daughter for the new baby.  Telling her it's a baby brother or a baby sister seems like a good idea, before the big day.  DH doesn't mind either way so I am the one who gets to decide this time.
  • We're finding out. First, like many of the others, I'm a planner so I couldn't take it otherwise.  Second, I'm not that much of a fan of green and yellow to start with, and clothing and gift choices become very limited when you stray away from those gender neutral colors.  Third, my sister and two cousins have all had babies in the last few years and all dying to give me their umpteen totes of clothes; my cousins live out of state, so there will have to be some advance planning on what needs to be sent or I won't get it until baby is 23!  The nursery is going to be in blues to match some peace sign decals I already have, so it will be gender neutral even though it is blues.

My brother-in-law and his wife waited and thought it was great - I think there will be plenty of surprises anyway, and so many things that can be planned ahead of time knowing this one thing!  But kudos to those of you who are waiting!

  • We found out the gender with DD, and we will probably do so for this baby too!  I loved knowing what we were having, and the surprise was just as much fun in the ultrasound room.  And I loved planning the nursery....but I love pink and girly things, so finding out was perfect for us.

Regardless of when you find out, it's still so exciting!

  • We are team green.  This is our first (and probably only) so I want to be completely surprised. The hard thing will be decorating the nursery.  I am already thinking about the furniture - Cherry seems too boyish, white and light colored wood seems too girlish.  Oh well, I still have 7 months to figure it out :)
  • We are Team Green!

Yes, I am a planner, but I can plan just as well without knowing girl or boy. Plus, as a planner I am rarely genuinely surprised about much so this will be the ultimate suprise at the end of a long 40 weeks :-)

Also, I prefer gender neutral decor anyway. It can go way beyond green and yellow, and I'm not a fan of all pink and blue anyway. We will probably be doing some combo of orange, aqua and soft grey with white.
