I am in tears from our stupid doctor we saw today. I have had it with wilford hall pediatrics (on lackland AFB). They seem like they do not care and they always miss everything that has ever been wrong with ds. I never see the same doctor and the doctor I saw today was rude and impersonal. I just cannot stand the level of care we get anymore. It's like they just are herding cattle over there.
I need a doctor for ds One. who will the the TIME to listen to my concerns, who is patient as ds cries at the doctor and has a hard time even getting vitals,I want to see the same doctor every time we go if possible.
Is there any doctor like this in the civilian world or am I just daydreaming?
Can you interview doctors? Is that even an option?
Ugh I think my hormones are making me a mess today but it was just all too overwhelming today at the doctor and I hated it.

We love our pedi! Dr. Beck is certified in pediatric infectious diseases which is a plus since he is SUPER knowledgeable about vaccines, etc. He is also laid back and patient and spends lots of time with each child. He also has a WONDERFUL assistant. Most of the time you can even get an appointment same day if you call first thing in the morning.
The downside to having a single pedi where you only see one person is that it can sometimes get backed up. He does spend a good amount of time with each patient, so especially if you go in the afternoon or after a holiday there can sometime be a wait (even with your appointment). It isn't all the time though, and like I said, it is mainly after holidays or late in the day - so try to get an appointment in the morning if you don't need it same day.
I don't know if Medical Center is too far for you since I know you live on the west side of town, but he is located off Fredericksburg near Huebner (behind USAA)

Thank you! At this point I really don't care where I drive as long as it's not to wilford hall again. I will drive anywhere to find someone who I trust and ds's trusts. Thank you!
We go to Dr Cuming over off Wurzbach. He also is the only MD in his practice but I love it and him. He also can have a bit of a wait because he does spend time with his patients. Also at every well child visit you get a paper that has developmental stuff and what your child should be doing. Everyone in his office is so nice. They were able to see me the same day I called for an appt for thrush.
OMG- I LOVE MY PEDI!! Dr. Jacobson at Through the Years Pediatrics on Huebner. She takes so much time with us each time! I never wait more than 3 min in waiting room. I have been able to get Reese seen "the day of" on 3 occasions now.

Ditto Through The Years Pediatrics. We see Dr. McCray and love her. We have seen Dr. Jacobson for sick visits too and I really like her as well.
hmmm, Dr beck seems to be the only one in our insurance program.
I think I will give him a call. Do you know if he does interviews?
I didn't interview him since he is the pedi my sister uses, but I don't see why he wouldn't!
Sorry on the late reply but I just wanted to recommend our pedi also. It's a group of 3 doctors but your baby will see the same dr. each time. We see Dr. Brandon and she is awesome, wait time is short, office staff are friendly, you're never rushed and she will answer all questions. All the doctors are moms also so they're great with kids, crying doesn't bother them.
