S/O book reading

Do you think girls are more likely to be readers than boys are?

I would rather read than anything.  Most of the time if we sit down to watch tv, I grab a book at the same time.  DH...not so much.  He does read some - but mostly only during flights, beach/pool time, etc.

Re: S/O book reading

  • My Dad LOVES to read. Of my moms 3 brothers 2 of them are avid readers.

    DH doesn't read at all unless it's the sports page.

  • DH and I both love to read.  He reads a lot when he travels.  My dad and brother don't read at all but my mom and I both read a bunch.  DH's dad and brother don't read but his mom reads constantly.

  • My DH LOVES to read! We have to put a limit on how many books he buys a month because we're running out of space!
  • DH loves to read, but only while travelling. I read as often as possible...which is why DH bought a Kindle for me when I had number two.
  • dh is a huge reader and devours thick scifi books as well as history books.

  • I don't see a big gender divide in reading in our family:

    Dad = reader (avid)

    Oldest Brother = not (likes crossword puzzles)

    Older Brother = reader (complicated histories/fewer books per year than Dad)

    Me = reader (moderate)

    Younger Brother = reader (moderate)

    Younger Sister = reader (avid)

    Mom = reader (occasional)

    Nephew = reader (moderate)

    Niece = reader (moderate)

    ...when I look at my own family, it seems like everyone reads. No gender trend, really.
