Cramps with a full bladder

If I hold my pee for more than a few minutes after I feel like I need to go, I get cramps that don't go away for several minutes after I pee. I was thinking it may be a UTI, anyone else experience this?

Re: Cramps with a full bladder

  • With my 2nd pregnancy I had something similar where I got cramping when I peed.  I went to my doctor and they tested me for an UTI but it came back negative.  They decided that it must have been round ligament pain even though it was early for that.

However it wouldn't hurt to call your doc and see if they want you to come in.

  • I had this when I was further along.  It would give me braxton hicks.  It was just my ute being a little irritable.  As long as you can get them to stop, that's all that matters.

  • I HAVE THIS!!!

Okay so since we got our BFP I've incrased my water intake (I'm awful about staying hydrated). Yesterday I was crampy and I figured it was the ligament pain. Then today I realized that I never actually have to 'go' to the bathroom. BUT when the cramps are bugging me, If I go it generally relieves them. Very strange yes, but it seems to be working.

I don't have any burning when I go, I'm going a good amount, and no stomach aches, so that leads me to believe its not a UTI. If your concerned check with your doctor though!

  • I had this for weeks right at the beginning.  But it gets better.  Just pee as soon as you feel the urge.
  • I don't have any burning either, and I go a decent amount too. I called my doctor because my first appt is not until next Tuesday, they are able to fit me in tomorrow morning.

  • I have gotten this and the doctor confirmed that cramping with a full bladder is normal.
  • I get this all the time and the bad thing is that I don't actually get the sensation to pee I just get the crampy feeling so I know that its time to go. if you keep feeling the urge to pee even right after you have gone then you want to have it looked at for a UTI. With DS at 39wks I thought I was leaking fluid but it ended up being a UTI.
