How old was your LO when you started implementing a sleep schedule?
About the time I moved her to her crib in her own room, 4 weeks. Although, I wouldn't classify it as a sleep schedule. Our days are typically chaotic since she is not much of a napper.....but she's still down & has been for about 2 hrs now (**happy dance**). We do have a pretty good nightly routine though.
Also ... do you typically feed your LO right before they go down for a nap?
Nope, she is a feed, play, nap/sleep & repeat girl.
When you say she isn't much of a napper ... does she get totally cranky when she doesn't nap or just hangs out awake? Will she take short naps or none at all?
and ... don't you LOVE when they actually take long naps? C took an almost 3 hour nap yesterday and I was i heaven! got to play in the pool and lay in the sun!

She was, IMPO, horrible.....but that's only bc she was taking about 3-4, 20 min cat naps per day. By the time I got her down & figured out what I was going to tackle (laundry, dishes, eat, etc) she was awake. Obviously, that's nothing compare to what you are dealing with. She wasn't really cranky or anything but being the busy body she is, she wanted to stay awake for everything!
Will she take short naps or none at all?
Just the cat naps, but I can say she is getting much better as she is getting "older." She's starting to take about 2 naps/day but only for about 45 mins.....I'm hoping today is a start of something new for us!!
Hang in there, it has got to get better if you can figure out a way to nip this in the bud now!! Sorry I don't have much advice to offer you.
Thanks so much for sharing. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's baby doesn't sleep for hours at a time. C definitely likes to hear himself scream so it makes getting him to sleep even harder ... and not knowing what is making him scream. But hopefully things get easier for us in the future too.
She wasn't ready until 4 months. Well I say that, I knew she was ready because I tried it and it worked well. It is not a hard and fast schedule, as I mentioned in Cristinas post. I try to feed her when she wakes up, but she has been extra hungry lately and loves to nurse to sleep so I usually end up nursing right before the nap too. She doesn't transfer though, so she is awake when I put her in the bed.

I seriously thought my child was the only one! Funny how you don't realize other people deal with the same issues.
