So our point and shoot is starting to go to crap and we're looking into getting a new one. We have a Canon Powershot SD 600 and we're looking into the newer version of this. Does anyone have a newer one and have any suggestions?
Check dpreview for in-depth reviews. I have the Canon SD1100 and it's ok. I know a lot of people really like it but I guess I just don't like the quality of p&s photos after using a dslr. One thing I really don't like about it is that there's no soft flash option...the flash is quite harsh.
Don't get a Casio Exilim. I loved them but I had 2 and both broke within a couple years.

+1 for dpreview, and +1 for not getting the exilim - my sister's had two, and they've both broken.
i have a canon sd800, i think? the sd1100 seems popular
if you're open to something besides a canon, we also have a panasonic lumix that i've been very happy with. not sure of the exact model, but it's over a year old and i think there are newer ones out now. it captures blues/purples more accurately than on my canon, and has a lot more options for controls. but the canon is a bit easier to use in some cases (especially if you don't need all those controls!), and is a bit smaller. i could just be more used to canons, since the sd800 is my third one - but i find the menus more intuitive.
we have the canon powershot SD1000 for our point/shoot i like it, it's what i use to shoot videos of miss A and the quality seems good to me. and if you look at my blog, it's what i used to take ALL my food photos up until recently (maybe the last month or so?).
but, like christine said, after using a DSLR i feel like the quality of the photos just isn't the same.
if you're wanting a point/shoot camera, though, i love our SD1000
Re: Camera question
I *just* bought this one. I literally got it in on Friday so I only used it for a few photos on Sunday, but it came highly recommended from a friend with two LOs. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CXZ6KC/ref=oss_product
this is the one I already had, but wanted something with a little more power with our LO arriving soon. But I really liked this camera too https://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SD1200IS-Stabilized-2-5-inch/dp/B001SER48S/ref=sr_1_18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1282067163&sr=1-18
