I have grown to dislike this place quite a bit. I don't think I will ever go back actually. I can see using it to register...maybe buying a gift. BUT, even for buying gifts off a registry I can always find the product cheaper somewhere else. I check Amazon, Walmart and Target and I almost always find big ticket items cheaper.
They are also not located in a convenient place for me and I don't think they carry anything that I can't find at a different store (cribs, changing tables, car seats etc...) regardless of price.
Tell me - am I missing something? Are the coupons that great? What is good about this place, I really want to know :0)
Re: S/O BRU - Why go there?
I absolutely agree with you! I just registered there and I have things I have been returning/exchanging and like you said, its VERY inconvenient for me to do this. So the Kenwood one will be easier to get to after work if/when I need to return or exchange anything in the future..
After I have this baby, I will be shopping at target, OUAC or amazon for baby items
I don't always compare prices at different places for items, but I feel like some of the big items I can get cheaper if I have a 20% off coupon (and then also use my BIL's 10% off employee discount) where as you never get things like that from Targer or Walmart. (meaning coupons) I also just feel like they have more of a selection to choose from than other stores, and a better chance that they will have ire...n stock what I need because of the wide selection.
Location does suck...but I am willing to make the drive because I love that store....I just went last night! :-) I just love looking at all of the baby items! :-)

While the place drives me nuts (and seriously who would EVER nurse their baby in the nursing room? It's disgusting) there are so many things that I really can't get anywhere else.
Shopping cart covers.. they have 10 to pick from. Target has 1 or 2 and they dont work well. Nursing covers, stroller covers for air travel... Just to name a few. If you are looking for a specific big tig item, I agree you can find it less expensive elsewhere... but for a lot of other items... BRU has it all.
While I *heart* Target... Target has the most horrible return policy. They cap you at $70 returning things for the year... and when the tylenol recall happened and I had both tylenol and advil they refused to give me a refund because I was at "my limit" (they run your drivers license and know) WTF? It is so annoying.
I like their off brand of diapers and that they have huge packs and that they often run good sales on them (plus the rewards coupons, they can be awesome prices). Occasionally I would buy something I needed right then and couldn't find elsewhere, but other than that I don't go there often. I shop with coupons and sometimes their clearance. And their new stuff... that other places haven't brought in yet.
Honestly I mostly window shop the big ticket stuff and find what I want to froogle.com at home to find the best price on. KWIM?

I agree w/ some of pp about being able to find things cheaper at places like Target or Walmart but you really cant beat the selection at BRU--and Ive found for certain things I really do need to see it in person (ex: trying to buy a sunhat and bathing suit for Nicholas--not many other stores carry the small sizes and w/ Nicky being so tiny I cant always guarantee that if I order something off amazon per say that it will fit 0-3 some places is not really 0-3 so its nice to be able to see it in person and know yes, that will definitely work)
I agree that on some things it is cheaper to go to Walmart or Target but you cant beat the selection at BRU
Since we are in a kind of unique situation w/ Nicholas being so small its nice to be able to see things in person so I know they will fit, its really hard to find any stores that have newborn or 0-3 size bathing suits & sun bonnets for example and while amazon has a ton I never know when I order something if its actually going to true to size and its a HUGE hassle IMO to buy something online and have it end up not working then have to mess around w/ returning it where I can spend a few $ more at BRU and know its going to work
Also--Ive had some great customer service at BRU surprisingly. For example: we recieved our travel system off my registry early on (my grandma and mom bought it for us) well that was before we knew Nicky was going to be so tiny, well when it came to taking Nicholas home from the hospital we needed a different car seat that had a lower weight minimum (the safety 1st one had the lowest we could find) Well my sister went out and charged it on her credit card. So now I had 2 travel systems and only needed one but my dad couldnt find his receipt for the one my mom bought us. I figured we were going to get screwed into having a huge store credit once we returned the travel system that was too big. I took it in w/ no reciepts and travel systems that were bought w/ 2 separate credit cards (neither of which were mine) I explained my situation and they no hassle let me return the old travel system, put the money back on my dads credit card and let me use a 20% coupon after the fact on the travel system my sister bought since i didnt have the coupon at the time so some money went back on her card too! Probably not the norm situation but it was SO nice having to not hassle and argue after having just got out of the hospital, being stressed, etc. It definitely makes me want to go back!
This is pretty much why I go there. I do not go there often, but we definitely used it to register. We also go there just to view the selection. Oftentimes, we end up buying the same thing at a different store, but I hate buying most things online without seeing them first, and this is about the only place you can find almost anything.
I don't buy clothing there and we didn't end up buying our bedding there, but it did help us rule a few things out. I love that you can try out the car seats with their seat in the store, or carry it out to your car -- try THAT at Walmart or Target, ha!
I have used their nursing room. While I didn't find it particularly outstanding, I'm glad they have the amenity. When I was a new mom and my son was 12 weeks old, there was no way I was comfortable enough to whip it out so I was glad to have the place to go.

My Northern KY Target has given DH & I major issues in the past, which basically boils down to bad customer service. We will shop at BRU any day of the week over Target.

If I'm looking for "baby" specific items, I too find BRU to be more friendly and easier to "see" everything. Target doesn't always have everything, and I have to be "in the mood" for Walmart. Also, I hate returning things to Target and Walmart for different reasons. Target's return policy is HORRENDOUS and the last time I had issues with them it took me 3 years to step foot in the store again. Walmart... well it normally takes way too long to return anything there. Most other stores don't have anywhere near the amount of stuff that BRU has, and for that reason if I'm really shopping for baby stuff, I go there.
Also, I got DS's toy organizer at BRU for way cheaper than anywhere else- $35 for a 16 bin organizer. I did have a coupon, and I couldn't find it anywhere else for anywhere near that price.
i find it pretty convenient since it is right up the street.
