  After a friend of mine gave birth to her daughter she had a problem with trying to get her to nurse on her left breast, she would only feed on the right and cry hysterically when turned over for the other side, at the next doctors appointment she asked about this, and discovered her daughters collar bone had been broken at birth and that was why she would cry when she was offered the right breast and had to turn her neck. I am sure this is not the case for your situation, but I would definitely get it checked out if it doesn't improve in a day or two, just in case it is something medically that is all of a sudden appearing, good luck!

  Is it really hot where you are? My DD is very picky about skin to skin contact in the heat... she hates sweaty skin touching her and that includes sweaty boobs or the crook of my arm, and sometimes if it's just too muggy/sweaty... she prefers to nurse side lying so we're not touching too much.

  DD prefers side lying too.  I think it's because my milk comes out really fast (think spurting all over if not covered). When I cradle her, gravity pulls the milk down into her throat too fast, and she gags a lot.  When we side lie, it's like whe you give medicine in their cheek so they don't choke.  She actually has a chance to swallow it without being forced to.  Had the same issue with DD1.
